The United States Drive To War On China

The US-led ‘cold’ war against China is manifestly failing in its objectives of suppressing China’s rise and weakening its global influence. China’s economy continues to grow steadily. In purchasing power parity (PPP) terms, it is by now the largest in the world. Its mobilisation of extraordinary resources to break out of underdevelopment and become a science and technology superpower appears to be paying substantial dividends, with the country establishing a clear lead globally in renewable energy, electric vehicles, telecommunications, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure construction and more.

From Media Darling To Persona Non Grata: Greta Thunberg’s Journey

Once the favored child of the establishment, Greta Thunberg has been dropped by the global elite. A MintPress News study finds that coverage of Thunberg in The New York Times and Washington Post has dwindled from hundreds of articles per year to barely a handful, precisely as she widens her focus from the environment to the capitalist system that is causing climate breakdown, and the Israeli attack on Gaza, which the Swedish activist has labeled a “genocide.” Greta Thunberg was once a media darling. Organizing a climate strike at her local school when she was just fifteen, she shot to fame and was quickly embraced by the establishment. In 2019, she was invited to the European Union Parliament and received a standing ovation from the politicians and diplomats in attendance.

Pizza Goeth Before A Fall?

While economists, politicians and pundits sift daily through a mountain of data—from unemployment rates to gross domestic product, inflation to bank lending rates—one overlooked economic indicator points unambiguously to a deep and imminent economic downturn: Pizza. In its February 24th earnings call with the financial press, Domino’s Pizza CEO Russell Weiner reported a 3.2 percent spike in carryout orders during the previous quarter, combined with a 1.4 percent decrease in deliveries. Weiner attributed this change in consumer behavior to “macro and competitive pressures,” or, in layman’s terms, households in the U.S. increasingly can’t afford delivery fees and driver gratuities that can easily add $10 to the price of a pizza.

EU Nations Condemning Gaza Genocide Secretly Ink Arms Deals With Israel

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius believe Russia could launch a full-scale attack on Europe by 2030, a fear that has prompted governments across the continent to prepare for war. As European citizens stockpile food and governments ramp up military readiness, one country sees opportunity in that fear: Israel. The European Union is planning to increase its military budget by €800 billion ($900 billion) over the next four years. With the United States pulling back military support for NATO, EU member states are seeking new defense partners, and Israel is stepping in, offering weapons tested on occupied and besieged populations.

Hegseth Demands Nato Allies ‘Spend More’ To Ensure US Support

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called on NATO allies to adopt US President Donald Trump's former demand that member states increase defense spending to five percent of their gross domestic product (GDP), a significant jump from the current target of two percent. Hegseth made the remarks on 5 June during a NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels, with the aim of finalizing commitments before the upcoming summit in The Hague scheduled for 24–26 June. “We're here to continue the work that President Trump started, which is a commitment to five percent defense spending across this alliance,” Hegseth said, emphasizing that the increase “has to happen by the summit.”

Tiwahe Pays Tribute To Children Who Died While Attending Boarding School

On Saturday, the unveiling of "Tiwahe" brought hundreds together to pay their respects to children who died while attending boarding school a century ago. Tiwahe, meaning family in the Lakota language, is a bronze sculpture that memorializes the nearly 50 children who died while attending the Rapid City Indian Boarding School. The sculpture is on land placed into trust of the Oglala, Cheyenne River, and Rosebud Sioux Tribes, where the boarding school previously operated. “Where the past meets the future is right now,” said Dr. Donald Warne at the “Remembering the Children Memorial” dedication.

If We Don’t Act Now, We’ll Be Complicit In Annihilation Of Palestinians

I was privileged to be in Catania over the past week to see the Madleen embark on its mission to deliver vital humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The Madleen is one of the boats of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which hopes to bring about an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The boat departed Sicily on Sunday carrying a dozen activists along with food, medicine and other supplies. Two million Gazans have suffered under siege by Israel for many months now. I arrived at the port and was met with a feeling of hope, care and bravery. There is no freedom without solidarity, and the Freedom Flotilla is solidarity.

Hamas Slams Fifth US Veto Of United Nations Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

Hamas condemned the US decision to veto a UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza on 4 June, labeling it a “green light” for Israel to continue its genocidal war against the strip. “The US veto embodies the US administration's blind bias towards the fascist occupation government and supports its crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip,” the Palestinian resistance movement said in a statement on Wednesday evening. The decision is “a green light for the war criminal Netanyahu, wanted by the International Criminal Court, to continue his brutal war of extermination against innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly,” the statement added, stressing that it confirms Washington's “full complicity in this ongoing crime.”

Revulsion For Israel Surges Worldwide, New Survey Finds

Twenty months into its livestreamed and accelerating genocide in Gaza, it would hardly be controversial to conclude that Israel is one of the world’s most hated countries. But a new global survey from the US-based Pew Research Center indicates just how unpopular it has become, especially in the North American and European states where Tel Aviv has always drawn its main sources of financial, military and political support. “In 20 of the 24 countries surveyed, around half of adults or more have an unfavorable view of Israel,” Pew reported on 3 June. “Around three-quarters or more hold this view in Australia, Greece, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.”

What GNDI Leaves Out Of Pacific Economies

The recent presentation of the 2025 Pacific Update at the University of South Pacific hosted by Australia National University on Gross National Disposable Income (GNDI), introduced a revised approach to economic measurement for the Pacific Island Countries (PICs). Delivered by Professor Stephen Howes, in collaboration with Dr. Rubiat Chowdhury, the presentation argued that GNDI is a more accurate measure of income for the region than the widely used Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The failure of GDP as a national accounting metric is evident, and we should all agree that GDP has been a failure for Developing Countries and regions, particularly Pasifika.

The Economic ‘Protracted War’ Between The US And China

China and the U.S. have come to a 90-day trade agreement. This was a clear victory in the first battle of the “trade war” for China — as was admitted even in the U.S. media. As Bloomberg, a fiercely anti-China source, summarised the analysis of the overwhelming majority of Western media: “Xi Jinping’s decision to stand his ground against Donald Trump could hardly have gone any better for the Chinese leader.” But it would be an error to mistake this decisive victory for China in the first battle with a belief that the U.S. will abandon the economic struggle against China – it will not. This is in economic terms a “protracted war”, not a single battle.

Washington’s ‘Golden Dome’ – Multi-Trillion Tax Dollar Heist At Best

During President Trump’s announcement on May 21, 2025, it was claimed the Golden Dome will consist of technology deployed across land, sea, and space capable of intercepting hypersonic, ballistic, and advanced cruise missiles, “even if they are launched from other sides of the world and even if they are launched from space.” Former-US President Ronald Reagan’s “Star Wars” program (also known as the Strategic Defense Initiative) was repeatedly cited during the announcement. That program sought to use space-based weapons to void the doctrine of “mutually assured destruction” allowing the US to conduct a nuclear or non-nuclear first strike on another nation and avoid what had otherwise been an inevitable nuclear retaliation that would destroy both nations in the process.

City Cuts Power To Black St. Louis After Tornado Disaster

On June 2, the St. Louis city government cut off electricity to thousands of tornado victims in the Northside Black community. Shortly after a tornado tore through the Black community of North St. Louis on May 16, red tags reading “Danger. Entry prohibited. Violators subject to prosecution”, were placed by volunteer inspectors who did not enter the homes, but made cursory assessments from the sidewalk. Mayor Cara Spencer had announced shortly after the May 16 tornado that the city would be directing Ameren to shut off the power to every red-tagged building, a minimum of 1500 homes.

Putin Would Not Rise To The Bait

Ukraine’s drone attacks on air bases deep inside Russia on Sunday were timed to provoke Russia into shunning the Russia-Ukraine talks set for the next day in Istanbul. Volodymyr Zelensky and his European puppeteers also may have thought they could provoke Vladimir Putin to escalate attacks on Ukraine to such a degree that the U.S. could not “walk away” from Ukraine without appearing cowardly. The PR benefits of destroying Russian aircraft far from Ukraine was part of Kyiv’s calculus. It was a huge embarrassment and a tactical victory in a short-lived, narrow sense. But the black-eye given Russian security services will eventually heal.

A New Asian Triad: ASEAN, China, And The Persian Gulf Align

On 26–27 May, the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, hosted the first-ever Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)–Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)–China summit, bringing together three of the Global South’s most economically dynamic regions for a trilateral meeting of immense strategic consequence. While not formalized as a binding alliance, the summit marks the beginning of a bold realignment – one that unites East and West Asia via economic interdependence, shared development visions, and a collective desire to escape western economic coercion. The summit is historic not only because of its trilateral format, but because it signals the emergence of a flexible Global South bloc capable of recalibrating regional and global power balances.
