COVID19 Corruption: Wealthy And Well Connected Get Rich While People Suffer

While corrupt elected officials and elites feed at the public trough, the economic collapse is hitting people in the United States hard. According to the newly released Bureau of Labor Statistics figures 47.2 percent of working-age people are without work and businesses are finding it impossible to pay their rent or keep their employees. The basic ability to feed children is in crisis, as nearly 14 million children in the United States went hungry in June, an increase of 10 million since 2018, and nearly three times the number of children who went hungry during the Great Recession, according to an analysis of Census data, Newsweek summarizes: "Nearly half of U.S. households' incomes have declined during the pandemic, with survey data showing both low-and high-income households being affected at about the same rate.

UN: US Violated International Law By Assassinating Iranian General

The UN's top rights investigator said the US broke international law by assassinating Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Soleimani, the head of the elite Quds Force branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC,) and nine others were killed by a US drone strike near an airport in Baghdad, Iraq, on January 3. The UN has now refuted President Donald Trump's reasoning for the strike. But, while the report is damning, it is unlikely to have any ramifications for Trump, as the US is not a member of the UN Human Rights Council, crashing out in 2018 after clashing over Israel, the Congo, and China. After the strikes, Trump said that Soleimani posed an "imminent threat" as he was actively plotting terror attacks against US assets, and killing him, therefore "stopped a war."

Time To Rethink The US-ROK Alliance

Perhaps it’s time for South Korea, then, to assert more independence and become a master of its own fate. Above all, that will require a reconsideration of the military alliance with the United States. From a military point of view, South Korea doesn’t need the presence of U.S. troops on the peninsula. They serve a largely symbolic function as a concrete sign of U.S. commitment. At some point, after the resolution of ongoing negotiations, South Korea will assume full operational control of military forces. After years of arms imports, South Korea’s hardware advantage gives it a vast military superiority over the North. The United States has been an obstacle in the way of improving inter-Korean relations. And it has forced a partnership with Tokyo that Seoul finds uncomfortable. On top of that, South Korea periodically worries that it will be drawn into the conflict between Washington and Beijing.

US Exposed For Funding Last Year’s Hong Kong Protests

Imagine how the American government would react if multiple Chinese state agencies such as Xinhua were exposed secretly helping protest groups across the United States to evade surveillance and crackdowns by law enforcement agencies. Washington would probably threaten China with war. Roughly, though, the little-known but powerful US Agency for Global Media has been doing just that in Hong Kong. It oversees funding for various news and information operations around the world, including Voice of America and Radio Free Asia. About US$2 million was earmarked for the protest movement in Hong Kong, but has now been frozen as part of a general overhaul and restructuring by a new agency boss. An ally of President Donald Trump, CEO Michael Pack didn’t specifically target the Hong Kong funding, which was apparently caught up in his management overhaul.

Trump Used Looted Venezuelan Public Money To Build Border Wall

Since the United States initiated a coup attempt against Venezuela’s elected leftist government in January 2019, up to $24 billion worth of Venezuelan public assets have been seized by foreign countries, primarily by Washington and member states of the European Union. President Donald Trump’s administration has used at least $601 million of that looted Venezuelan money to fund construction of its border wall with Mexico, according to government documents first reviewed by Univision. During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump insisted countless times that he would “make Mexico pay” to build a gargantuan wall covering all of the roughly 2,000 miles (3,145 kilometers) of its northern border.

Iranian Arrest Warrant For Trump Shows How Disreputable US Presidency Has Become

The arrest warrant issued by Iran for the murder of General Qassem Soleimani in January shows how disreputable the office of the US presidency has become. Trump has openly bragged about ordering the assassination of the widely revered Iranian commander. There was a time when American presidents would at least use discretion in liquidating foreign enemies. Not Trump. He reveled in the murder. For the more liberal apologists of America’s Murder Inc., Trump’s kind of bravado is embarrassing. The president is just not supposed to divulge the bloody reality of Washington’s lawlessness. Interpol, which serves as an international agency linking national police forces, told RIA Novosti if it receives a request to arrest Trump, its own rules will not allow it to act on it arguing that the Iranian move is illegitimate because it is “politically motivated”

US And Saudi Nuclear Program: The Trump Administration’s Secrecy

A recent report by the US House of Representatives revealed that Trump administration has accelerated the process of transferring “very sensitive” nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia.   The US House of Representatives has revealed that the Donald Trump administration has tried to provide Saudi Arabia with highly sensitive and advanced nuclear technology as soon as possible, regardless of legal and security concerns, the report said.   The report also expressed concern about the Trump administration’s secretive engagement with Saudi Arabia.   The report goes on to say that private companies that are in close contact with Trump and his administration are putting a lot of pressure on Saudi Arabia to transfer the technology, given the multi-billion dollar revenue generated by the technology.

Livin’ On Tulsa Time: Infiltrating ‘Trump Country’ To Fly A Different Flag

Once spotted — read: ironically snitched on by onlooking National Guardsmen — our group was rapidly swarmed by a boatload of aggressive, somewhat violent, police officers.  My Marine Corps infantry veteran buddy was shoved to the ground and hit his head (thankfully without serious injury) with the rest quickly shepherded to the exits. Arrest seemed imminent, but in the end only the three climbers — plus a distinctly soft-spoken and older Vietnam veteran “packing” only a camera — were actually booked. There was some crowd jeering directed our way during the exit march, with one memorable Trump enthusiast yelling “Antifa!” at another marine vet friend, before loudly yelling “in tongues” in his face. It’s hard to imagine a more apt symbol of much that’s bizarre and distasteful in Trump World. Matters could have ended worse. In a sense, the real fear stemmed from the crowd, the MAGA mob, and — without complete hyperbole given the amphitheater scene — a vigilante attack.

DC Protesters Try To Pull Down Andrew Jackson Statue Near White House

Protesters tried to pull down a statue of President Andrew Jackson near the White House Monday night before being dispersed by police. Police used pepper spray to move protesters out of Lafayette Square, where the Jackson statue is located. Videos posted on social media showed that the protesters had climbed on the statue and tied ropes around it, then tried to pull it off its pedestal. The statue shows Jackson in a military uniform, riding a horse that is rearing on its hind legs. The 19th-century president’s ruthless treatment of Native Americans has made his statue a target of demonstrators protesting the United States’ legacy of racial injustice.

Lost Manuscript Of Eyewitness Account Of Tulsa Race Massacre

With President Trump holding a campaign rally in Tulsa, OK on June 20, 2020, we thought it would be good to republish this article on the Tulsa Massacre, often referred to as the Tulsa Race Riot. It was a white rampage in the successful black community of Rosewood, also known as Black Wall Street. No one knows how many people were killed in the massacre but “the vast majority of Tulsa's African American population had been made homeless by the event.” The white race riot began around a false charge of a white woman being raped by a back man, and conflicts between white and black people at the courthouse, with whites seeking to lynch the man.  Greenwood had been considered one of the most affluent African American communities in the United States for the early part of the 20th century,

President Maduro: United States Is Living An Anti-Racist Spring

President Maduro said that the US is experiencing an anti-racist spring, in reference to the massive protests for the murder of George Floyd. “People on the street are saying who Donald Trump is every day,” said the Venezuelan president during his participation on Monday in the TV show “Between Values,” in which he also asserted that the American people “live an anti-racist spring”. On the other hand, he stressed that historical figures such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King are more present today than ever among Americans who fight for their rights. “They are the martyrs for a future hope, for a new society that is emerging in the US,” he said. He also stressed that individualism and pettiness are the essence of systems of world domination through the denial of social being. “Capitalism is based on the use of collective work for enrichment and the conquest of individual power.”

Chris Hedges: Gaslighted By The Ruling Class

The elites have no intention of instituting anything more than cosmetic changes. They refuse to ask the questions that matter because they do not want to hear the answers. They are systems managers. They use these symbolic gestures to gaslight the public and leave our failed democracy, from which they and their corporate benefactors benefit, untouched. The crisis we face is not, as the ruling elites want us to believe, limited to police violence. It is a class and generational revolt. It will not be solved with new police reforms. The problem is an economic and political system that has by design created a nation of serfs and obscenely rich masters.

FBI ‘Has No Intelligence’ Indicating Antifa Was Linked To Violence In Protests

The FBI has collected no intelligence indicating that "antifa" was involved in violence over the weekend related to protests over the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who died on May 25 after a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes, The Nation reported. Trump announced on Twitter that day that "the United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization." But an internal FBI situation report, the bureau's Washington, DC, field office "has no intelligence indicating Antifa involvement/presence" in the violence that took place on Sunday.

Trump Sends Unambiguous Message To Police And Vigilantes

It is time to embrace the parallels, to be unafraid to speak a clear truth: Whether by design or lack of it, Donald Trump and the Republican Party operate an American state that they have increasingly organized on fascist principles. It is also time to consider what else the fascists may yet do, during an unprecedented pandemic, amid unprecedented unemployment, faced with unprecedented resistance ahead of an unprecedented election. The Republican Party wants to make “antifascist” a category of terrorist; whether or not it actually uses active-duty soldiers to round up this new class of undesirables in the “national emergency,” it has at its disposal every police officer who flies a Punisher or Blue Lives Matter flag above the U.S. flag, every armed vigilante and Oathkeeper and Proud Boy who craves the boogaloo.

Trump Labels Anitfa As A Terrorist Organization Without Any Basis In Fact

United States President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday that the U.S. will go ahead and label Antifa as a “terrorist organization,” raising serious concerns about the unconstitutionality of such a threat if carried out.  “The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization,” Trump said, as protests over the murder of the black man, George Floyd, continued in at least 30 cities in the United States on Sunday, with Minneapolis as the epicenter. Without evidence, Trump and several top officials from his administration, including U.S. Attorney General William Barr, have blamed Antifa and groups it describes as "agitators" for taking over the protests in U.S. cities.
