Federal Agents Seek Detention Of Cornell Graduate Momodou Taal

Ithaca, N.Y. — Days after filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration that challenges the constitutionality of two executive orders that violate free speech, Cornell graduate student Momodou Taal has said that he is being watched by federal agents who could be looking to detain and potentially deport him before he can make his case in court on Tuesday. “This morning, shortly after a federal judge scheduled a hearing in my lawsuit demanding the courts strike down Trump's executive orders attacking free speech, law enforcement from an unidentified agency came to my home in Ithaca, New York,” Taal said in a social media post on Wednesday, March 19.

Trump Administration Threatening To Shut Down Social Security

The following is a statement from Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works, on the news that Trump-appointed acting commissioner Leland Dudek is threatening to shut down Social Security rather than comply with a court order to stop Elon Musk’s DOGE from continuing to access sensitive Social Security data: Donald Trump and Elon Musk installed Leland Dudek as acting Social Security commissioner six weeks ago. Plucked from administrative leave, Dudek was elevated over more than 100 higher-qualified civil servants because he was willing to give Musk’s DOGE complete, unfettered access to Americans’ most personal, sensitive data.

Damascus Targets All But Israel As Border Crisis Deepens

Since the seizure of Damascus by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on Dec. 8, 2024, thousands of Syrians have been killed across the country. Instead of confronting Israeli aggression and further land grabs in the nation’s south, Syria’s de facto President, Ahmed al-Shara’a, has directed his fire at Lebanon instead. On March 17, fighters affiliated with the new Syrian security forces of HTS crossed into the Lebanese border town of al-Qasr, three of whom were captured by a local clan. News quickly spread that two of the militants were executed and a third seriously injured, prompting Syria’s leadership to order shelling and a military buildup on its side of the border.

Pentagon Demands Iraq Dismantle Resistance Factions, Iran Responds

Washington has demanded that Iraq disarm and dismantle Shia resistance factions in the country, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on 21 March. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth issued the demand to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani during a phone call last Sunday, The source stressed that “this issue is of special interest to the administration of [US] President Donald Trump.” Sudani informed the US side that his government is working to address this issue through ongoing dialogue with the armed factions, known collectively as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), the source added.

Unilateral Coercive Measures And The War On Women

In 1945, when the United Nations Charter was drafted, its authors and those who first adopted it carefully crafted language on how to deal with armed conflict in the world. Between the signing of the charter in June and its coming into force in October, the United States dropped atomic bombs on two Japanese cities: Hiroshima, on 6 August, and Nagasaki, on 9 August. It is hard to digest the fact that as the charter’s solemn preamble was being formalised, setting out to ‘save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind’, the United States armed forces were preparing to destroy two civilian cities in a country already on the brink of surrender.

The Chaotic Release Of Long Sought After JFK Files

The National Archives published two batches of records from the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection after President Donald Trump spontaneously announced that all remaining files would be released. “This is a breakthrough. The absurd and suspicious redaction that have denied us the full story are, for the most part, removed,” declared renowned reporter Jefferson Morley, known for his work publishing the JFK Facts newsletter. He’s also the vice president of the Mary Ferrell Foundation, which maintains a searchable database for exploring released files.

Make The World Scared Again: US Threatens United Nations Agencies

“Are you or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?” was the key question at the U.S. House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) hearings during the 1950s McCarthy era. At the height of the anti-Soviet/Communist fear, HUAC cost thousands of people their jobs and created a powerful chill to freedom of speech and association. A similar chill with global consequences has now come to 2000 U.N. agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that receive U.S. funding. An Office of Management and Budget questionnaire asks them to describe with whom and how they do business. It has created stupor and confusion here in Geneva as they ponder how to reply.

An Open Letter From EPA Staff To The American Public

The Trump administration is making accusations of fraud, waste, and abuse associated with federal environmental justice programs under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) as justification for firing federal workers and defunding critical environmental programs. But the real waste, fraud, and abuse would be to strip away these funds from the American people. As current and former employees at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) who developed and implemented the agency’s environmental justice funding and grant programs, we want to offer our first-hand insights about the efficiency and importance of this work.

As Elections Near, Ecuador’s Poor, African And Colonized Under Siege

As Ecuador heads into a very important run-off election on April 13, the issue of security and state violence, as well as the economy, remains at the forefront for many Ecuadorians. In January 2025 alone, over 750 homicides were registered in Ecuador. Economic dollarization and submission to U.S. dictates the proliferation of arms shipments through privately owned ports, and the expansion of international drug cartels to enforce an atmosphere of violence and a military presence to combat them have all combined to make the living conditions of the poorest and vulnerable unbearable, especially for African and Indigenous communities with a constant war directed at them from the militarized structures of the state.

Israel’s Most Explicit Statement Of Genocidal Intent

The Israeli defense minister is simply following Trump’s position and reiterating what everyone who isn’t a blinkered partisan hack knew Trump was saying two weeks ago. He is doing this in exactly the same way Benjamin Netanyahu followed Trump’s position on ethnically cleansing Gaza last month by enthusiastically endorsing the plan Trump put forward to permanently remove all Palestinians from the enclave. Trump puts forward the plan, and Israeli officials put it into action. So you’ve got both the U.S. and Israeli governments openly threatening the entire population of the Gaza strip with the war crime of collective punishment if they don’t somehow kick Hamas out of Gaza, and additionally announcing the intent to inflict “total devastation” upon that population if they do not.

Yemen Targets Ben Gurion Airport In Tel Aviv, USS Truman In Red Sea

The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) targeted Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv early on 20 March, marking its second attack on Israel since the resumption of all-out war on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 700 people since the start of the week. The YAF also carried out its fifth operation targeting the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, following several new US attacks on Yemen. “The YAF missile force carried out a military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied Jaffa region with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile.

End The War In Ukraine, US/NATO Out Of Eastern Europe

It seems impossible to have a discussion with those who insist on calling for more billions for weapons, training, and mercenaries for Ukraine even after US/NATO wars have destroyed so many millions of lives. The cheerleaders for the US war in Ukraine are as misguided and indoctrinated by the Biden regime as the dupes who believe that Trump will bring us peace. Biden’s minions, like Trump’s, stake their position on a mountain of lies, lack of information, wishful thinking, and hatred of the other while invoking high-sounding words like sovereignty, democracy, and freedom.

Nicaragua Ranks Highest In Gender Equity In The Americas

If you asked 100 people in the U.S. or the U.K. to name the country leading gender equity in the Americas, it’s unlikely anyone would correctly answer Nicaragua. This lack of awareness reflects the success of a decades-long imperialist campaign to discredit and undermine Nicaragua’s remarkable achievements since the 1979 revolution. The U.S has continuously attempted to destroy the Sandinista revolution, from the contra wars, through active support for the 16 years of neo-liberal government, to the 2018 attempted coup, and the current punitive economic sanctions.

Failing To Read The Room, Trump Treats Whites Like N-Words And Loses Ground

On a recent episode of her podcast, Hysteria, the host, Alyssa Mastromonaco, a former White House deputy chief of staff, read a tweet from a woman who identified herself as Marylin, complaining about the newly formed Department of Governmental Efficiency and its hatchet man, the billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk: “My daughter is losing her job thanks to DOGE. I voted for President Trump three times. My daughter is a hardworking, excellent worker for the. . .National Forest (Service). She doesn’t work for DEI; she runs the office. I am pissed at POTUS and Elon Musk. It’s not right.”
