Protests to end Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinians are getting louder and larger. Seeing the livestreamed genocide Israel perpetrated in Gaza has had an effect globally, with the call to boycott Israel at an all-time high. Quiet boycotts, which started in supermarkets nearly two decades ago, have turned into widely used apps that help millions make choices about purchases. Campus protests and encampments in the US and Canada have led some major education institutions to cut ties with Israeli counterparts, while investments into Israel have dipped, and some of the world’s largest economies have recognised Palestine as a state.

On June 24, 2024, an Israeli airstrike targeted the Al-Daraj clinic in Gaza City, killing five, including key medical personnel. Recovered from the ensuing rubble was the remnant of a Hellfire missile, strewn amidst the chaos of destruction it unleashed on the clinic in moments prior. The AGM-114 Hellfire, a brand of precision-guided weaponry, is manufactured by Lockheed Martin, funded through U.S. federal contracts, and often purchased by Israel through American foreign military sales. While Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor responsible for manufacturing the Hellfire missile, it procures key components from Mini-Circuits, a company specializing in the manufacture of radio frequency (RF) and microwave components.

Trump Visit Met By Popular Protests In Malaysia Over US Backing Israel

Hundreds of people took to the streets in Malaysia on Sunday, October 26, to oppose US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country. Protesters raised slogans in support of the Palestinian resistance and condemned US support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Protesters also opposed various interventionist policies followed by the US across the globe with chants of “down with imperialism” and demanded Malaysia break its ties with it. The call for the demonstration was made by the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), along with several other organizations who gathered at Kuala Lumpur’s Independence Square and Ampang Park with banners and posters denouncing imperialism and shouting slogans in support of the Palestinian people.

Venezuela Launches Simón Bolívar International Brigades

On Friday, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that Venezuela will form an international volunteer brigade to confront any US intervention or aggression. The statement was made during a meeting of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform. “We have received proposals from all over Latin America and the Caribbean, from Asia, Africa, and from many other places. I have seen videos on social media from many people, social leaders, saying that they too are getting ready,” Maduro said. He added that the international brigades, comprised of “men and women of the world,” would defend Venezuela’s sovereignty. President Maduro added that Washington is unleashing “a new eternal war,” commenting on the controversial US deployment and aggressions in the Caribbean Sea, with 10 strikes on small boats that have already killed 43 civilians in actions labeled as extrajudicial killings by international experts.

Portlanders Mobilize To The ICE Facility For Fourth Weekend In A Row

Portland, OR – Despite a rainstorm, hundreds of Portlanders mobilized on Saturday, October 25 to the Portland ICE Facility to protest the deployment of the National Guard and increased ICE attacks, and to demand the city revoke the land use permit for the ICE Facility. One protester was arrested during the event. In less than a month the city can begin the process of revoking the permit for the ICE facility. “It is not [the Portland city council] that lends its permission to operate the ICE facility, but ours. As such, the decision is ours to end permissive behaviors to rogue groups [such as ICE] that seek solely to break our common bonds,” Jason Ohmann, a protester and member of the safety team at the protest stated, adding, “It is important to protest ICE to protect all the members of our community – we are not asking them to heed our wishes and stand down.

Norwegian Peace Council Will Not Celebrate Machado’s Nobel Peace Prize

The Norwegian Peace Council announced that it will not organize this year’s traditional torchlight procession through downtown Oslo on the day the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded due to its disagreement with the choice of Venezuelan far-right politician María Corina Machado as the winner. The organization, which brings together 17 Norwegian pacifist organizations and some 15,000 activists, declared on Friday, October 24, that it made this decision because its members “do not feel that this year’s winner is in line with the fundamental values of the Norwegian Peace Council.” “It is a difficult but necessary decision. We have great respect for the Nobel Committee and for the Peace Prize as an institution, but as an organization, we must remain true to our principles and to the broad peace movement that we represent.

Veterans Condemn Israel’s Blatant Violations Of Gaza Ceasefire

Veterans For Peace unequivocally condemns Israel’s gross violations of the ceasefire in Gaza. We demand that the Trump administration pressure Israel to abide by the ceasefire agreement: to end all attacks on Gazans; and to allow abundant aid (at least 600 trucks a day) into Gaza. We call upon the President and U.S. Congress to cut off all military aid to Israel.     We further call on U.S. political leaders to secure the freedom of Mohammed Ibrahim, a 16-year-old U.S. citizen who was kidnapped from his bed while visiting family in the West Bank last February, and whom Israel continues to hold in a notorious torture prison.   Israel’s gross violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, including aerial bombing and artillery barrages, have killed over 100 Palestinians – including many children – in the first two-and-a-half weeks of the “ceasefire,” causing fear and panic among Gaza’s civilian population.

On July 22, in the Palestinian village of Ibziq, bright lights pierced through the tent at 12:30 a.m., jolting Baltimore, Maryland-native Nikki Morse and a fellow activist awake. The activists, both from the United States, were confronted by a masked young man who declared in accented English: “Your time is almost up.” Behind him, three others waited on an ATV. His shirt read “Artzeinu” — Hebrew for “our land.” This encounter with Israeli settlers in Ibziq provides a glimpse into the daily reality for Palestinians under constant attack in the occupied West Bank. Since Oct. 7, 2023, B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, says settler violence has reached “unprecedented levels,” with entire communities forcibly displaced, their homes demolished or confiscated, and Palestinians subjected to collective punishment, killings and torture.

No To A US War On Venezuela!

For the past few weeks the Trump administration has intensified its long-standing aggression against Venezuela by deploying warships (including a nuclear submarine) in the Caribbean Sea in a purported anti-narcotics operation. US forces have carried out at least five incidents of strikes on boats in Venezuelan waters to date, killing 37 people. Trump’s latest move has been to authorise the CIA to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela. President Nicolas Maduro, as Venezuela’s current leader, has been a focus of this ‘war on drugs’ narrative, justifying the US’s illegal actions by demonising him as a ‘narco-terrorist’ engaged in drug trafficking, despite UN evidence to the contrary. The US also portrays him as being an illegitimate leader, offering a bounty of $50 million for his capture.

Political leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean condemned the US military buildup in the hemisphere and issued a call to defend “sovereignty, security, and lasting peace” in the region. The signatories sounded the alarm over the “imminent threat” of US military action inside Venezuelan territory. “The Trump administration is escalating a dangerous military buildup off the coast of Venezuela, deploying naval forces in the Caribbean in preparation for a potential armed intervention,” read the communiqué published Thursday by the Progressive International. The legislators and political leaders warned that the United States’ bombing campaign represents a direct threat to the region’s status as “Zone of Peace.”

Noboa’s Iron Fist Forces End Of CONAIE’s National Strike In Ecuador

After more than 30 days of demonstrations, roadblocks, military convoys, repression, clashes, marches, sit-ins, and more, the national strike called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE) has ended. The strike was initially called to protest against the elimination of the diesel subsidy by the right-wing government of Daniel Noboa. Diesel is the most widely used fuel among farmers, peasants, and transporters, and it is also the cheapest. The CONAIE Statement A few days ago, negotiations between the government and CONAIE were suspended due to a lack of agreement and, according to the government, as a result of the continued roadblocks carried out by several Indigenous communities.

At last, at last, Jews with powerful voices have gathered en masse — a critical mass, I would say — to condemn Israel and the savage spree of murder, starvation and terror it inflicts as we speak upon the Palestinians of Gaza and the Occupied Territories of the West Bank. You may by now be aware of the open letter signed by 450–plus American, European and Israeli Jews and made public this week. In it, this sprawling group of distinguished personages denounces the criminality of the Zionist regime and asserts “the universality of justice and the fair and equal application of international law.” The signatories also call for the international community to impose immediate sanctions on apartheid Israel.

Atlanta, Georgia - The scientists gathering inside a cavernous convention hall here this week weren’t chanting or carrying protest signs or wearing frog costumes. But over the course of four days, they engaged in what felt like their own brand of political resistance. They were there for IDWeek, the annual gathering of professional societies that work on infectious diseases. And in many ways the meeting was like any other medical conference. Participants attended mostly narrow, technical lectures on topics like tuberculosis, HIV, and tropical diseases—one session had the title of “Big Beasts of Clinical Mycology”—with occasional breaks for networking at receptions and strolling among the vendors in the exhibit hall.

Resident doctors in England have announced that they’ll be walking out on strike next month. They’ll begin the industrial action at 7am on 14 November. The news comes after Labour’s complete failure to bring a credible offer to the table, regarding jobs and pay restoration. England’s BMA (British Medical Association) resident doctors’ committee (RDC) has urged Wes Streeting to do the right thing. They want the health secretary to return with a sensible offer. One that would allow them to call off the strike. So what has Streeting done in return? He’s accused the BMA of trying to “wreck” the NHS, and has called the strike a “slap in the face” for other hospital staff.
