Trump Bids World Health Organization Goodbye

In January 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) is poised to lose a member state, following US President Donald Trump’s executive order to withdraw from the UN health agency. Should this plan go ahead, it will mark the end of US participation in the world’s main global health forum and bring budgetary headaches to the WHO, given that the US remains its top financial contributor. The WHO’s rather dry response to the announcement suggests it was expected and that the agency has likely begun preparing to navigate a second Trump presidency on reduced resources.

A Teacher’s Approach On How To Fight Back Against ICE

The Trump administration’s racist, anti-immigrant offensive is targeting sanctuary cities and the few remaining spaces where undocumented immigrants can feel safe — even where they go to learn and receive healthcare. As a teacher in New York City, this is a direct attack on my students, their families, and my coworkers. A new directive from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has authorized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to raid schools, hospitals, and religious institutions like churches and mosques — locations previously designated as “sensitive areas” under a 2011 policy.

Trump’s Tariff Threats Could Destabilize The Global Economy

Trump told the Davos Economic Forum January 23: “My message to every business in the world is very simple: Come make your product in America and we will give you among the lowest taxes of any nation on earth.” Otherwise, if they continue to try and produce at home or in other countries, their products will be charged tariff rates at Trump’s threatened 20%. To Germany this means (my paraphrase): “Sorry your energy prices have quadrupled. Come to America and get them at almost as low a price as you were paying Russia before your elected leaders let us cut Nord Stream off.”

Trump’s Education Agenda For Teachers

“Getting critical race theory out of our schools is not just a matter of values, it’s also a matter of national survival,” Donald Trump railed at a rally in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election. “We have no choice, the fate of any nation ultimately depends upon the willingness of its citizens to lay down — and they must do this — lay down their very lives to defend their country.” This is more than political theater — it’s a clarion call to enforce, by any means necessary, what can only be called “post-truth schooling,” a system where ideological conformity replace inquiry and objective truth as the foundation of education.

Media Hype Set Up Tren De Aragua To Serve As Trump’s New Bogeyman

A CNN headline (6/10/24) last June menacingly warned readers about the United States’s latest dial-a-bogeyman, guaranteed to further whip up anti-immigrant vitriol in the country and justify ever more punitive border fortification: “This Is the Dangerous Venezuelan Gang Infiltrating the US That You Probably Know Nothing About But Should.” The gang in question was Tren de Aragua, which formed in Tocorón prison in the Venezuelan state of Aragua, and spread to various South American countries before allegedly setting its sights on the US.

Trump Keeps His Promises While Democrats Must Be Abandoned

Donald Trump is once again president of the United States. The man who was counted out politically after he was charged and convicted of felonies in cases that were legally dubious efforts to keep him out of the white house, once again emerged victorious and is the 47th president of the United States. Trump is a significant figure in U.S. politics, having won two presidential elections when the odds were against him. His success is in large part due to racist appeals to white voters. But those clarion calls might fall on deaf ears were it not for Democratic Party collusion with a greedy plutocracy and its own racism, which consigns its most loyal constituency to opportunistic tokenism.

Canada’s PM Trudeau: Disaster In Office, Disaster On Departure

The world regards Canada as nice and boring—nothing exciting happens there—but over the last couple of months, things have been very different. On the one hand, within a week or two of being elected president-elect, Trump started issuing threats against Canada: threats about tariffs, threats about undertaking all sorts of measures because Canada was not helping reduce illegal immigration into the U.S., and of course, the threat about making Canada the 51st state, which he issued first by calling Prime Minister Trudeau “Governor Trudeau.” On the other hand, we have seen that Prime Minister Trudeau has resigned in the last two weeks.

Trump’s Day One: Sanctions Lifted, Settler Violence Explodes

On his first day in office, Donald Trump lifted all sanctions previously placed on Israeli settlers in the West Bank, a political move that coincided with a series of violent attacks by Israeli settlers targeting Palestinians that same night. While the President has publicly committed to combating violent extremism, extremist settler groups continue to finance their activities through American charities. On Monday night, with the backing of the Israeli military, settler groups launched a series of violent assaults on residents in the West Bank.

Trump’s Blitz On Immigration Aimed To Overwhelm

Pandering to his nativist base, Donald Trump made the central pledge of his 2024 presidential campaign a threat to “carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” On January 20, 2025, he began to fulfill that promise. On Inauguration Day, repeating the words spoken by Chief Justice John Roberts, Trump swore to uphold the U.S. Constitution. Setting aside the issue of whether he purposely refrained from placing his hand on the Bible his wife was holding, the oath Trump swore triggered the “Take Care Clause” of the Constitution. Article II imposes on the president the duty to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.”

Organizers Are Ready To Defeat Trump’s Mass Deportation Agenda

Through racist, anti-migrant claims, falsehoods, and fearmongering, the Colorado suburb of Aurora has emerged as the right-wing’s potential staging ground for US President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda. Trump has pledged to launch the largest mass deportation operation in US history, expelling between 15 to 20 million migrants in an effort that will have ripple effects across working class communities and the entire US economy. The current US President has dubbed his mass deportation effort “Operation Aurora,” after a town that has become the epicenter of anti-migrant hysteria.

Trump Vows To ‘Expand’ US territory, Invokes Manifest Destiny

Donald Trump began his second term as president by vowing to grow the US empire. In his inauguration speech, Trump used explicitly imperialist rhetoric, promising to “expand our territory”. He even invoked “Manifest Destiny”, a concept employed by 19th-century US colonialists to justify ethnically cleansing Indigenous nations and stealing their land. “The United States will once again consider itself a growing nation, one that increases our wealth, expands our territory, builds our cities, raises our expectations, and carries our flag into new and beautiful horizons”, Trump said, adding, “And we will pursue our Manifest Destiny into the stars”.

Trump Administration Sued Over Order For Firing Federal Workers

One day after Donald Trump returned to office, a leading government labor union filed a lawsuit against his administration’s reclassification of thousands of federal workers as political hires. An executive order signed by the president – making public sector workers easier to fire – amounts to a “dangerous step backward”, according to the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents federal government employees across 37 agencies and departments. The move, one of several actions announced by Trump in the hours after his inauguration on Monday, was swiftly criticized as an attack on workers.

Trump Says Schools, Churches, Hospitals Aren’t Off-Limits To Immigration Police

For years, undocumented immigrants have held onto the knowledge that — while no place is ever completely safe — places like schools, hospitals and houses of worship have been much less likely to face raids from either Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or Customs and Border Protection (CBP). That changed on January 21, when Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement announcing that the administration has rescinded guidelines that previously deterred immigration police from conducting raids in locations considered “sensitive” or “protected.”

Faith Communities Continue Sanctuary Despite Removal Of Protections

In the wake of the Trump administration’s cancellation of the 2011 “sensitive areas” memo yesterday; faith communities associated with the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity are reaffirming their unwavering commitment to sanctuary. This commitment includes continuing to welcome immigrants and offering solidarity, support, and services regardless of immigration status. The “Sensitive Locations Memo,” introduced during the Obama administration, advised immigration enforcement officers to avoid making arrests in places like schools and houses of worship. Despite its repeal, faith communities remain steadfast in their solidarity.

American Troops As Migrants

This country, once a haven for immigrants, is now on the verge of turning into a first-class nightmare for them. President Donald Trump often speaks of his plan to deport some 11.7 million undocumented immigrants from the United States as “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” Depending on how closely he follows the Project 2025 policy blueprint of his allies, his administration may also begin deporting the family members of migrants and asylum seekers in vast numbers. Among the possible ways such planning may not work out, here’s one thing Donald Trump and the rest of the MAGA crowd don’t recognize: the troops they plan to rely on to carry out the deportations of potentially millions of people are, in their own way, also migrants.
