Colombia’s Free Trade Agreement With US ‘Suspended,’ Ambassador Recalled

On Monday, Colombian President Gustavo Petro declared that Colombia’s Free Trade Agreement with the United States has been “de facto suspended” since last April, when his counterpart Donald Trump included the country in his global trade war with a 10% tariff. Petro said he will announce new measures regarding the matter soon, marking a continuation of rising tensions after a US strike against a small boat in the Caribbean. “The FTA is suspended de facto and by unilateral decision of the US government,” Petro stated on his X account. “By imposing 10% tariffs, the FTA treaty has already been violated and the old tariff preferences that kept Colombia under US control have been nullified.”

Trump Orders CIA To Attack Venezuela

The United States is waging war on Venezuela. This is not a hypothetical; it is happening. The Donald Trump administration is using extreme violence to try to overthrow Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro. The US military has killed dozens of Venezuelans in strikes on boats in international waters without charge or trial. UN experts have publicly condemned these attacks as “extrajudicial executions” that violate international law. It is not only Venezuelans who have been executed by the US military. Among the victims of these illegal US attacks have been fishermen who were citizens of Colombia and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Likely Consequences Of A US War On Venezuela

Funny thing about war: it is relatively easy to start. An insult here. A lie there. A “false flag” as a casus belli there, and shots, bombs, missiles ensue…and destruction and deaths follow until there is some sort of “victory”. However, when the odds are stacked against a much smaller opponent that is facing an overwhelmingly larger foe, then “victory” will not appear straightforward, or even clear. It will be messy. This is the case of Venezuela. The USA thinks its technological superiority will allow it to subdue the Venezuelan government and people: in other words, bomb them into submission.

Brazil’s MST Will Organize Brigades To Support Venezuela

The national leader of Brazil’s Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST), João Pedro Stédile, announced that popular movements across Latin America are working in coordination to send brigades of activists to Venezuela in solidarity with the country’s government and people, amid growing threats of a possible US military intervention. “We, as movements in Latin America, are holding meetings and consultations to organize, as soon as possible, internationalist brigades of activists from each of our countries to go to Venezuela and stand alongside the government and the Venezuelan people,” said Stédile in an interview with Radio BdF.

Washington’s New War Front To Box In China And Turkiye

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s words earlier this month were a clear declaration that the relatively calm waters of the Eastern Mediterranean have become the front line in a wider geopolitical conflict. The threat that “Turkiye will strike first” was not only directed at Greece, Cyprus, or Israel, but at the new security architecture forming on the edge of the west, what can be called the “Mediterranean Arc.” This tripartite strategic partnership has evolved beyond a regional coalition countering Ankara’s ambitions. It now forms a critical node in a broader geopolitical constellation known as the Indo-Mediterranean Rim – the central stage of intensifying competition between the US and China across Eurasia and beyond.

Head Of US Southern Command To Step Down Amid Strikes On Boats

The head of US Southern Command, the military commander overseeing US escalations in the Caribbean and the push toward an attempt at regime change in Venezuela, is stepping down, the Pentagon announced on Thursday. According to a statement from SOUTHCOM Commander Adm. Alvin Holsey, who served in the position for less than a year, he will be retiring on December 12, 2025, ending a 37-year military career. No reason was given for his resignation, but according to The New York Times, he had raised concerns about the US military mission in the Caribbean, which has involved a significant buildup of forces and the bombing of five boats that the Trump administration has claimed, without providing evidence, were carrying drugs.

Chris Hedges Report: Drug Trafficking And Murder In The Special Forces

For decades, clandestine foreign military and intelligence operations have been the deadly, destabilizing engine of American foreign policy. Today, as exposed by investigative journalist Seth Harp in his new book The Fort Bragg Cartel, 21st-century Special Forces operations have become their brutal, logical successor. Harp joins host Chris Hedges on this episode of The Chris Hedges Report to highlight the dark culture of violence inflicted by Special Forces operators both abroad and domestically. These operators exist in a world where battlefield impunity spirals into rampant drug use and trafficking, extrajudicial killings and domestic violence.

Trump Announces New ‘Kinetic Strike’ Off Venezuela’s Coast

On Tuesday, US ruler Donald Trump claimed that US military forces deployed in the Caribbean Sea carried out a new attack on a small boat “off the coast of Venezuela,” without specifying a precise location, killing six people he alleged were carrying drugs. Since Sept. 2, Trump has allegedly ordered military strikes on at least five boats in the Caribbean Sea that his regime insists were carrying drugs to the US. This latest illegal action brings the number of extrajudicial killings committed by US military forces to 27 unidentified civilians. Through Truth Social, the White House tenant published that his secretary of war, Peter Hegseth, ordered a “lethal kinetic attack” against a small boat supposedly off the coast of Venezuela, based on information allegedly provided by US intelligence.

President Maduro: If The Gringos Attack, We Will Respond

Amid the ongoing threats to Venezuela from the United States, which maintains its military deployment in the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro assured that Caracas will respond if Washington attacks and stressed that work will continue despite external pressures and threats. “If the gringos threaten, we will work harder; if the gringos attack, we will respond; but nothing will stop the work; the work for the homeland, the work for the health of the people, for education, for the life of the people,” he said during the inauguration of the Dr. Julio Criollo Rivas Pediatric Hospital in Caracas.

Is The UN Charter Worth The Paper It’s Written On?

Before raining bombs and missiles on Korea, Iraq, Libya, and Syria, the US at least requested authorization from the UN Security Council (UNSC) in accordance with the UN Charter, sometimes getting it, sometimes not. This year it skipped that nicety altogether, bombing Iran without so much as a call to Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Israel didn’t bother to make its case either, knowing that the US had its back. The US did send the Council a ridiculous explanation after the fact. It said it had to neutralize an Iranian nuclear threat and claimed its inherent right of self-defense and collective self-defense with its ally Israel, citing the Charter’s Article 51. However, Article 51 reads, “Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations . . .”

Two Years Since The Al-Aqsa Flood: The Resilience Of Gaza

October 7, 2025, marks two years since the Al-Aqsa Flood boldly asserted the collective human right of the Palestinian resistance to oppose colonial occupation while dealing a death blow to the perceived invincibility of the zionist regime. In response, the imperialist coalition protecting israel – led by the United States – has intensified its genocide of the Palestinian people, extending its barbarous terror to any and all defenders of the Palestinian cause. The U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM – which oversees an estimated 58 U.S. military bases and installations across North Africa and West & Central Asia – has played a key role in the occupation of Palestine, as well as in the violent destabilization and exploitation of the region and its peoples as a whole.

Venezuela Demands UN Action To Halt US Military Threat

This Monday, Venezuelans took to the streets in great numbers from Petare, east of Caracas, toward the United Nations (UN) headquarters to chant “no to war” and to condemn constant threats from the United States and a possible US military attack against Venezuela. Upon arriving at the UN headquarters, the marchers delivered a letter asking the UN to uphold its founding Charter in the face of what many consider a US threat to Venezuela disguised as a “war on drugs.” From outside the UN resident coordinator’s office in Caracas, Pedro Infante of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) urged the international organization to ensure compliance with the principles of the Charter, especially that of “maintaining international peace.”

Bringing A Howitzer To A Knife Fight: US Armada Off Venezuela

Donald Trump boasted striking small boats off Venezuela’s Caribbean coast to “blow the cartel terrorists the hell out of the water.”  Claiming destruction of enough drugs to kill 25,000, he called the extrajudicial murders “an act of kindness.” Then he ominously hinted at a US land invasion of Venezuela now that the marine route for drugs had been obliterated. The Miami Herald described the “precision strike” as targeting the Tren de Aragua (TdA) criminal organization. Then, in the very next sentence, the newspaper lauded the strike at the “heart of Venezuela’s Cartel de los Soles,” as if the two entities were one in the same. The rest of the article addressed the Cartel de los Soles, forgetting that it was TdA that had supposedly been blown out of the water.

US Now Violating Long-Standing Informal Proxy War Rules

NATO’s proxy war against Russia in Ukraine is attracting growing attention as it threatens to spiral out of control. There is ample reason for concern. What began as a limited military assistance program to Kyiv from the United States and its European allies following Moscow’s expanded invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has morphed into something much larger and more dangerous. NATO members are no longer just supplying Ukraine with weaponry that could arguably be described as purely defensive; they are equipping their Ukrainian proxy with far more destructive, long-range weapons capable of reaching targets deep inside Russia. In addition, the United States and other NATO governments are assisting Ukrainian attacks by providing crucial military intelligence, including targeting data.

Venezuela Warns Of Far-Right Plot To Bomb US Embassy As False Flag

On Sunday night, Venezuela reported that local far-right extremists are planning to plant explosives at the closed United States embassy in Caracas in what it called a false flag operation. Jorge Rodríguez, the head of the Venezuelan Peace Dialogues process and president of the National Assembly, reported that Caracas warned the US government about the intelligence report using three different channels. An incident of this caliber could be used to justify a direct US military action against Venezuela. “As Venezuela’s head of dialogue and peace, I want to announce that we have warned the US government through three different channels of a serious threat, a false flag operation orchestrated by extremist sectors of the local far-right,” Rodríguez said.
