Amid the ongoing threats to Venezuela from the United States, which maintains its military deployment in the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro assured that Caracas will respond if Washington attacks and stressed that work will continue despite external pressures and threats.
“If the gringos threaten, we will work harder; if the gringos attack, we will respond; but nothing will stop the work; the work for the homeland, the work for the health of the people, for education, for the life of the people,” he said during the inauguration of the Dr. Julio Criollo Rivas Pediatric Hospital in Caracas.

Adalah condemns Israel’s assault and unlawful interception of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s flagship vessel, the Conscience, and eight sailboats of the Thousands Madleens — a coordinated humanitarian initiative sailing together to confront Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza amid the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
Before losing all communication early this morning, participants aboard the Conscience — primarily doctors, nurses, and journalists — reported being attacked by an Israeli military helicopter, while Israeli naval forces simultaneously intercepted and boarded the Thousands Madleens sailboats. The vessels were located approximately 120 nautical miles from Gaza, deep in international waters, when the attack took place. According to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the military is transporting participants to an Israeli port.

Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska announced on 7 October that Madrid will submit a formal complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over Israel’s kidnapping of hundreds of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters.
Grande-Marlaska said any assault on civilians in international waters constitutes an act of unlawful detention under both Spanish and international law.
On Sunday, 29 Spanish activists who were part of the flotilla landed in Madrid after being detained by Israeli forces in international waters.
Many of the activists were subjected to “physical and psychological ill-treatment” while in detention.

As the number of Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza exceeds 67,000 and famine has reached the “catastrophic” phase, thousands of taxpayers across the country have united with Palestinian-Americans to file an international legal complaint against the U.S. government for funding Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
An initial petition was filed in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) in Washington D.C., on May 15, 2025, by Taxpayers Against Genocide (TAG) and the National Lawyers Guild. It charged the United States with aiding and abetting Israel in its commission of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in Gaza, in violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, and the Geneva Convention. The petition alleged that the U.S. violated the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man.

This Monday, Venezuelans took to the streets in great numbers from Petare, east of Caracas, toward the United Nations (UN) headquarters to chant “no to war” and to condemn constant threats from the United States and a possible US military attack against Venezuela.
Upon arriving at the UN headquarters, the marchers delivered a letter asking the UN to uphold its founding Charter in the face of what many consider a US threat to Venezuela disguised as a “war on drugs.”
From outside the UN resident coordinator’s office in Caracas, Pedro Infante of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) urged the international organization to ensure compliance with the principles of the Charter, especially that of “maintaining international peace.”
Minneapolis Brings The Fight For Roof Depot To Mayor Frey’s Neighborhood
Minneapolis, MN – Climate Justice Committee and community members gathered for a family-friendly walk through Mayor Jacob Frey’s Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood on Saturday, October 4. The walk was called to raise awareness for the Roof Depot fight and urge Mayor Frey to give the East Philips neighborhood a fair deal for the site. Participants put up hundreds of posters, handed out flyers, and had conversations with community members.
The walk was called by the Climate Justice Committee (CJC), a local activist group focused on fighting urban pollution and environmental racism in the Twin Cities. They have been active in the East Phillips neighborhood’s campaign to turn the old Roof Depot into an urban farm and community center.

When a health insurance company refuses to pay for treatment, most people begrudgingly accept the decision.
Few patients appeal; some don’t trust the insurer to reverse its own decision.
But a little-known process that requires insurers and plans to seek an independent opinion outside their walls can force insurers to pay for what can be lifesaving treatment. External reviews are one of the industry’s best-kept secrets, and only a tiny fraction of those eligible actually use them.
ProPublica recently reported the story of a North Carolina couple, Teressa Sutton-Schulman and her husband, who we identified in the story by his middle initial, L, to protect his privacy.

Six days after two Indiana Starbucks locations closed as part of the multinational coffee chain's Back to Starbucks restructuring plan, unionized employees of the Starbucks on Mass Ave briefly walked off the job in a "practice picket" Oct. 2.
Roughly 20 Starbucks employees and supporters chanted and marched with signs that read "No contract, no coffee" and "Just practicing for a fair contract" in the shade of the café at 430 Massachusetts Ave. The hour-long demonstration was part of a recent national picketing effort by Starbucks Workers United across 35 U.S. cities, according to a news release from the union. Workers United members have staged rallies over the last week calling for improved staffing in stores and higher take-home pay as negotiations for a new contract with Starbucks have stalled.

Portland, OR – On Saturday, September 4, 400 people rallied at Elizabeth Caruthers Park and marched to the ICE detention center in Southwest Portland.
The event was organized by Portland Contra las Deportaciones (PDXCD), Portland for Palestine (P4P), Tesla Takedown, and Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) to protest against the imminent deployment of National Guard troops into the streets of Portland. The troops are supposed to protect the Portland ICE facility.
The rally at Elizabeth Caruthers Park began at noon and speakers from each organization talked about the need to be out in the streets resisting ICE, as opposed to the cowardly “don’t take the bait” rhetoric peddled by city and state officials such as Portland Mayor Keith Wilson and Governor Tina Kotek.

“Terrorism is being used” by imperialist forces “to pillage African resources,” said Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Rimtalba Ouédraogo in his address at the 80th UN General Assembly (UNGA). “A case in point is France,” whose troops Burkina Faso expelled in early 2023.
Mali, which had also expelled French troops the year before, had sought a meeting of the UN Security Council in 2022, “so that my country could provide irrefutable proof of France’s support for terrorist activities,” recalled its Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga in his address. “So far, this request has not been followed up on,” while France continues its “sabotage”.

Unbearable power cuts and a lack of drinking water are just the tip of the iceberg. Popular anger has erupted in Madagascar as the population grows weary of shortages and failing basic public services. Power cuts can last for up to 12 hours, which can lead to cuts in drinking water supply on an island already suffering from severe water stress. Calls for action quickly mobilized thousands of people. The crackdown was also very harsh: to date, according to the UN, there have been 22 deaths and more than 100 injuries, some of them very serious.
Since September 25, an organization calling itself Gen Z Mada has organized spontaneous demonstrations in most of the country’s cities, particularly in Antananarivo, the country’s capital. In response to crackdowns, students and young people from the big cities have also gathered in front of one of the capital’s universities to denounce the government’s authoritarian turn and the police’s violent repression.

On Sunday night, Venezuela reported that local far-right extremists are planning to plant explosives at the closed United States embassy in Caracas in what it called a false flag operation.
Jorge Rodríguez, the head of the Venezuelan Peace Dialogues process and president of the National Assembly, reported that Caracas warned the US government about the intelligence report using three different channels. An incident of this caliber could be used to justify a direct US military action against Venezuela.
“As Venezuela’s head of dialogue and peace, I want to announce that we have warned the US government through three different channels of a serious threat, a false flag operation orchestrated by extremist sectors of the local far-right,” Rodríguez said.

Seattle, WA – On October 2, Seattleites took to the streets in solidarity with the Global Sumud Flotilla, protesting the humanitarian aid fleet’s illegal interception by Israel the previous day. Nearly 100 activists packed into over 40 cars to form a motor caravan and cruised through some of the busiest streets in downtown Seattle during rush hour, disrupting traffic and unloading afterwards at a rally. The action was timed to coincide with other national and global efforts, like that of the Italian Unione Sindicale di Base (UDB), which enacted a general strike across Italy.
The caravan, as well as the rally attended by nearly 600 people, ensured that Seattleites could not ignore the events surrounding the Global Sumud Flotilla despite the U.S.’s repressive media doing its best to keep Americans in the dark.
Police Make Almost 500 Arrests At Palestine Action Protest In London

Police have arrested almost 500 people in London at what organisers hoped would be the biggest demonstration so far against a ban on the proscribed organisation Palestine Action.
Officers began arresting demonstrators at the silent vigil in support of the group, which has been classed by the UK government as a terror organisation since July this year.
The first arrest took place shortly after 1pm as the seated protesters took out pens and wrote signs showing support for Palestine Action.
Dozens of police were lined up to begin arresting members of the group, who were sitting silently on the pavement in the square.
Early indications suggest the hundreds of protesters, with a mixture of ages and different backgrounds including many retirees, may not be enough to break the record for the number of arrests.
