Israelis Call For Global Pressure On Israel For An Immediate Ceasefire

We, Israeli citizens residing in Israel and abroad, call on the international community – the UN and its institutions, the United States, the European Union, the League of Arab States, and all states around the world – to intervene immediately and implement every possible sanction towards achieving an immediate ceasefire between Israel and its neighbors, for the future of both peoples in Israel and Palestine and the peoples of the region and for their rights to security and life. Many of us are veteran activists against the occupation, for peace and mutual existence in this land.

Haiti: Resistance Under Attack, Calls For International Solidarity

VIV ANSANM (the paramilitary gang strangely named “Live Together”) has plunged our population into a terrible darkness in Solino, Fò Nasyonal, Nazon, Kriswa and other nearby popular neighborhoods or ghettos in Port-au-Prince. None of us are free to leave our homes. We don’t know which way to go. The bloodthirsty death squads kill the poor and unfortunate inside their shacks. They burn through homes and memories. We, the population of Solino, have long resisted this barbarism. Stand with us, We need help! The neocolonial Haitian state and their foreign masters lay the basis of these massacres. We cannot continue in this situation. Solidarity is our only hope.

Spain Goes On General Strike Against Genocide In Gaza

Something did not seem right at the Raval campus of Barcelona University on Friday, September 27. Early on a fresh morning, some thirty students and teachers lingered in the open air, outside the main building, seemingly unwilling to go inside. Classes were set to start soon, but they had no alternative but to stay where they were. “I don’t think we’ll be teaching today”, a professor mentioned to his colleagues. The reason? A dozen activists completely blocked the access, aided by two dumpsters and a plastic fence, and are not allowing anyone in. Dressed from head to toe in black to prevent being recognized, one of them hid their face behind a keffiyeh.

Arab States Warn Israel ‘Pushing For All-Out War’

Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq warned in a joint statement on 25 September that Israel is “pushing” the region into a state of all-out war. The joint statement was made on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. “Israel is pushing the region into a comprehensive war,” the foreign ministers of the three Arab states said, condemning the ongoing Israeli attacks across Lebanon and calling on “the international community and the Security Council to assume their relevant responsibilities to stop the war.” Stopping this “dangerous escalation underway in the region” must begin “by halting Israel’s aggression in Gaza,” they added.

Connecting The Dots Between Climate Destruction And Its Financial Backers

Standing on a mobile stage in a suburban Philadelphia park on July 3, Ugandan human rights activist Hillary Taylor poured a cup of dirt into a clay vase. “This soil represents all my communities in Uganda and Tanzania,” he said to a crowd of 300 people gathered near the global headquarters of Vanguard, the world’s largest fossil fuel investor. This was the start of a major day of action for Vanguard S.O.S. — the international campaign that’s calling for the powerful asset manager to deal with its climate change problem and invest in a livable future. Participants came from near and far to dramatize the connection between asset managers like Vanguard and the harm their investments cause frontline communities.

Trade Unions Can And Must Rebuild Democracy

2024 is historic in the story of global democracy. Around four billion people will vote in more than 40 countries. But in what state do we find democracy? The facts speak for themselves – if democracy was a hospital patient, it would need constant care. The global trade union movement, as the world’s largest social movement, needs to stand up For Democracy. Democracy and democratic values are under attack worldwide. Unregulated, neo-liberal globalisation has left billions of people behind and this breeds support for right-wing populists. This has fed a rising tide of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes which neither respect limits on their power nor protect the freedoms and rights of workers, minorities, civil society or trade unions.

Call To Action: Thwarting Israel’s Master Plan In The West Bank

Returning to Palestine after 17 years was a surreal experience, and met with a constant sense of nagging and overwhelming suffocation. Walking and driving along the ancient blood-stained streets, I am acutely aware that there is no post-traumatic stress disorder while there’s constant trauma and stress being dished out every day on this magnificent and tortured stolen land. Being in constant awe at Palestinians’ everyday stories of normalized violence, juxtaposed with their unending generosity, kindness, and sense of sumud or steadfastness, is almost too much to bear witness to, much less comprehend.

Without Evidence, US Declares Edmundo González Winner Of Venezuela’s Election

History has repeated itself in US-Venezuelan relations. On August 1, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken released a statement “Assessing the Results of Venezuela’s Presidential Election,” wherein he declares that “it is clear to the United States and, most importantly, to the Venezuelan people that Edmundo González Urrutia won the most votes in Venezuela’s July 28 presidential election.” The statement also harshly criticizes Venezuela’s electoral system, the process on voting day, and the manner in which results have been released by Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE). The declaration has been harshly criticized by different governments, political analysts, and social movements, which accuse the US of once again trying to implement the failed “Guaidó plan.”

The Question Of Hamas And The Left

Recently, a rash of articles has surfaced criticizing the Western left for “celebrating” Hamas. Most of these critiques say that reducing support for Palestinian resistance to supporting Hamas is a disservice to Palestinians because Palestinians represent a multiplicity of voices with different political dispositions. Instead, these arguments call on the Western left to reckon with the complexity and diversity of Palestinian politics. Bashir Abu Menneh’s article in Jacobin, “The Palestinian Resistance Isn’t a Monolith,” chastises what he claims is the left’s celebration of a “socially regressive” movement such as Hamas in an article that reads more like a hidden critique of armed resistance itself than of Hamas.

Pro-Palestine Campaign Challenges Lockheed Martin With All-Day Picket

Littleton, CO – On Wednesday, May 29, the Denver Anti-War Action (DAWA) continued their pro Palestine actions against weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin with another all-day picket at the corporation’s Colorado headquarters. Around 50 protesters engaged in direct action throughout the day, forcing Lockheed employees to take fact sheets that laid out their location’s specific role in the ongoing genocide in Palestine, attached with explicit imagery of carpet bombing and the brutal effects of white phosphorus. The fliers pointed out the connections between Lockheed Martin and Israel, included graphic imagery of war crimes, and the specifics of the activity that Lockheed Martin is engaged in in Colorado.

Maldives Bans Israeli Passport Holders In Solidarity With Palestine

The Maldives announced on 2 June that it will ban Israeli passport holders from entering the archipelagic state in protest over Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu “resolved to impose a ban on Israeli passports,” said a spokesman for his office, without giving details on when the decision would take effect. The president’s office said the country has decided to alter laws in order to prevent Israelis from entering the country and that a subcommittee will be established to oversee the process. It added that Muizzu will appoint a special envoy to assess the needs of the Palestinians and to launch a fundraiser under the title “Maldivians in Solidarity with Palestine.”

Open Letter By Gaza Academics And University Administrators

We have come together as Palestinian academics and staff of Gaza universities to affirm our existence, the existence of our colleagues and our students, and the insistence on our future, in the face of all current attempts to erase us. The Israeli occupation forces have demolished our buildings but our universities live on. We reaffirm our collective determination to remain on our land and to resume teaching, study, and research in Gaza, at our own Palestinian universities, at the earliest opportunity. We call upon our friends and colleagues around the world to resist the ongoing campaign of scholasticide in occupied Palestine, to work alongside us in rebuilding our demolished universities, and to refuse all plans seeking to bypass, erase, or weaken the integrity of our academic institutions.

We Will Not Forgive Or Forget The Massacre In Rafah

We know that it is our government in the U.S. that is sending the bombs that murdered Palestinians taking refuge in tents. The Biden administration is responsible. Just a few days ago, he said there was no genocide in Palestine. To deny this is a genocide is to make that word devoid of all meaning. To deny this is a genocide is to deny the humanity of the tens of thousands of people murdered since October. And that is precisely what Zionism does; it is a racist ideology that denies the humanity of the Palestinian people. The growing Far Right in Israel, the center of global fascism, celebrates the murder of Palestinian children.

People’s Conference For Palestine Closes With A Pledge To Mobilize

After three days of idea exchange and relationship building, the People’s Conference for Palestine ended with a bold call to mobilize: surround the White House on June 8 in protest of Israel’s ongoing offensive against Rafah.  “Biden said he had a red line, remember the red line? He said, if Netanyahu dares go into Rafah, that’s a red line, we the United States, will stop sending weapons to Israel,” said Brian Becker, executive director of the ANSWER Coalition, said during the plenary session entitled “How Do Movements Achieve Transformation?”  “Israel went ahead and invaded Rafah, and what did Biden do? He continued to send the bombs and the missiles to carry out the massacre in Rafah and throughout Gaza."

World Mourns ‘Tragic Loss’ Of Iranian President Raisi

Leaders and officials from several countries began to offer their condolences to Iran on 20 May following the announcement of the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials in a helicopter crash northwest of the country. “In Russia, the President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian were known as true, reliable friends of our country,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday morning. “Their role in strengthening mutually beneficial Russian-Iranian cooperation and trusting partnership is invaluable,” Lavrov added, extending “condolences to the families and friends of the victims, as well as to the entire friendly people of Iran.”
