The High Cost Of Empire: US Weapons Depletion Fuels Concerns

As the United States channels tens of billions of dollars into wars in Palestine and Ukraine, data reveals a concerning depletion in its missile production capacity. Critics argue that the primary beneficiaries are weapons manufacturers, not American security. Since the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, U.S. defense companies have significantly outperformed major stock indexes. RTX, which produces the 2,000-pound bunker-busting bombs used by Israel in Gaza, outpaced the S&P 500 by roughly 46 percent. In 2023, U.S. weapons sales to foreign governments surged 16% to a record $238 billion, as defense contractors report unprecedented demand and growing backlogs.

Thawing Russia-US Relations?

It has been two and a half years since a conversation between U.S. and Russian presidents. That last conversation was held on Feb. 12, 2022. It ended badly – the readout showing there was no room for compromise, no room for a “deal” to stave off war in Ukraine. The U.S. would not reverse its stance on inviting Ukraine into NATO; and went back on an earlier undertaking not to put offensive missiles in Ukraine. The Russians saw their core national security interests at stake, just as the U.S. had core interests in preventing Cuba from installing offensive missiles in 1962.

Iranian, Russian Card Payment Systems ‘Officially Linked’

Iranian and Russian card payment systems were formally linked on 11 November, coming as the two nations have been working together to circumvent economic sanctions imposed by Washington and the west. The announcement was made on Monday during a ceremony attended by the Governor of Iran’s Central Bank Mohammad-Reza Farzin. During the ceremony, “a previous agreement on the connection of Iran’s Shetab and Russia’s Mir card payment systems for electronic fund transfers took effect,” Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported.

How Trump’s Return Will Impact The World

As he prepares to return to the White House, US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed neoconservative Iran hawk Brian Hook to lead his State Department transition team. This has excited pro-Israel groups. At a September event at the Israeli-American Council, Trump proudly declared, “I was the best friend Israel ever had”. All of the likely candidates for Trump’s secretary of state and national security advisor are China hawks. These include neocons Marco Rubio, Robert O’Brien, and Mike Waltz. Three other possible choices, Ric Grenell, Bill Hagerty, and Vivek Ramaswamy are so-called “MAGA” Republicans who have distanced themselves from neoconservatism, but still share the neocons’ vehement hatred of China and would escalate tensions with Beijing.

Bill Clinton And The ‘Dictators Club’

In Bill Clinton’s infamously unhinged speech last week in Michigan, he said that Jews had been living in Judea and Samaria before Islam existed, that anyone upset by the Gaza genocide should understand how Israelis feel, and that Kamala Harris’s promise to work for a ceasefire should be enough to make them vote for her. Those statements were so tone deaf that they dominated the outraged response. The rest of the speech was also rife with brutal lies and hypocrisy. One was a particularly glaring instance of the Democratic argument that Trump is a would-be dictator who consorts with dictators and would do away with all our democratic institutions.

The Life And Times Of A ‘Russian Propagandist’

For the last 5 years, I hosted Fault Lines, the flagship show of radio Sputnik in Washington DC, 105.5FM. Monday through Friday, from 7am to 10am, as Americans drove to work, ate breakfast, got in their morning workout - my voice slid into their ears and infected their minds with strange and subversive words that painted a tapestry of ideas that were internalized by a vulnerable public creating waves of social discontent that challenged the activities and narratives of the state. According to the US government, I am a dangerous man.

The BRICS Summit Should Mark The End Of Neocon Delusions

The recent BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia should mark the end of the Neocon delusions encapsulated in the subtitle of Zbigniew Brzezinski’s 1997 book, The Global Chessboard: American Primacy and its Geostrategic Imperatives. Since the 1990s, the goal of American foreign policy has been “primacy,” aka global hegemony. The U.S. methods of choice have been wars, regime change operations, and unilateral coercive measures (economic sanctions). Kazan brought together 35 countries with more than half the world population that reject the U.S. bullying and that are not cowed by U.S. claims of hegemony.

The Wondersome Effects Of Weapon Sales And Sanctions

In a world where everything is interconnected - economics, industrial production and global political competition - it becomes exceedingly difficult to use foreign policy instruments like weapon sales to proxies or sanctions. There will nearly always be some unforeseen backlash coming in an unexpected area that will hurt. The European sanction policies against Russia may be the prime example for this. But hostile U.S. policies towards China may, over time, cause much more damage. Not to China but the U.S. and its desired policy aims themselves.

Russian Media Demands $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 From Google

Russian news broadcasters are owed an unbelievable sum from US tech giant Google over their loss of access to YouTube, RBK news outlet reported, citing sources with knowledge of the matter. According to the report, the total amount Google owes the 17 Russian broadcasters has reached $20.6 decillion as of October 28. The staggering figure stems from a host of lawsuits filed against Google, in which a number of Russian news channels accused it of unlawfully blocking their content on the video hosting platform. In October 2022, the Moscow Arbitration Court ordered Google to restore YouTube access to the blocked Russian channels.

Uhuru 3 File For Judgment Of Acquittal In Free Speech Case

On Thursday, October 10, Attorney Leonard Goodman filed a post-trial motion on behalf of the Uhuru 3 – Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel – asking Judge William Jung for a “judgment of acquittal on the conspiracy charge” or a new trial on that charge. In September’s contradictory verdict, the Uhuru 3 were found not guilty of acting as unregistered agents of the Russian government but were unjustly convicted of “conspiracy” to act as unregistered agents of the Russian government. Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel declared victory in defeating the government’s claim that their lifelong advocacy for Black reparations, justice and peace was conducted under the direction and control of a foreign government.

Israel And Its Neighborhood, An Interview With Ambassador Chas Freeman

A German newspaper recently published an interview with the Egyptian foreign minister, Sameh Shoukry, who expressed his profound frustration with the Americans as Israel continues its assault in Gaza—and now the West Bank and Lebanon. You can’t work with the Americans, he complained in so many words. They say one thing, they rarely mean it, and typically do something else altogether. It prompts my first question in the context of the enlarging crisis in West Asia, please comment on the diplomatic positions of America’s allies in the region. What, generally, is going through their minds? Why haven’t they reacted more vigorously to the Israeli assault? Are they simply “bought,” in one or another way? Or is there more to it?

How Russia Is Overwhelming Ukrainian Frontlines

There seems to be a bit of a panic along the Ukrainian front lines. Several units, for lack of men, have recently left positions they were supposed to hold. The daily progress of the Russian forces along the line is increasing. The medium level of the Ukrainian military seems to understand that their defense is breaking down.

Xi Jinping: Global South Countries March Together To Modernisation

The summit meeting of the BRICS cooperation mechanism was held, October 22-24, in Kazan, the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, and was hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Alongside dozens of other events within its framework, the summit of the nine full members of BRICS was held on October 23, under the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security”. This was the first such gathering in which Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa were joined by Ethiopia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Iran, since the 2023 summit meeting held in South Africa invited the latter four countries to take up full membership in the first wave of BRICS expansion.

BRICS Adds 13 New ‘Partner Countries’ At Historic Summit In Kazan, Russia

The Global South-led organization BRICS is growing. More and more countries support the group’s mission: to build a multipolar world, with alternative economic institutions that are more representative and democratic, not dominated by the Western powers. BRICS held a summit in Kazan, Russia in October 2024, where 13 new “partner nations” were accepted. At this historic meeting, China’s President Xi Jinping referred to BRICS as “a vanguard for advancing global governance reform” and “reform of the international financial architecture”. Bolivia’s left-wing President Luis Arce argued that “the shield of BRICS and multipolarity” can protect formerly colonized nations, helping them resist “Western unipolarity and the tyranny of the dollar”.

BRICS Grain Exchange Would Depoliticize Global Cereal Market

Russia proposed creating a BRICS grain exchange that would serve as a new trading platform for the world’s largest producers and consumers of food grains. The measure could help depoliticize global markets and eliminate intermediaries in the form of Western exchanges, according to experts consulted by Sputnik. The dominance of the United States in the world economy did not start with the dollar. After the Second World War, the US became the leading supplier of wheat and corn. As a result, the entire modern infrastructure of the global grain market has been shaped by Washington. Thus, the benchmarks are made by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), and the US dollar is primarily used as the settlement currency.
