Since the beginning of the process of colonization and conquest of the territories that are commonly called the United States (US), the idea of it being the land of abundance and opportunity has been promoted. Millions of people migrated to these lands with the dream of getting rich quickly. The rise and consolidation of the US as a world hegemonic power occurred some time later, just a century ago. The two world wars and the economic crisis of 1929 were the part of the context and reasons for its rise.
With its military and economic power, with its cultural industry, and by making its currency the currency of the world, it managed to prevail against the fascist option.
Let Us Find Our Lost Diamonds

Donald Trump returned to the White House with a loud thump. His staff threw executive order upon executive order on his desk, which he signed with a flourish and then got on the phone to bark orders at the Danes and the Panamanians and the Colombians, demanding this, that, and the other thing, that thing, this thing, the things that he feels that the United States deserves.
In Trump’s history, the US once had a Golden Age. He is now the symbol of its anxiety. His slogan, ‘Make America Great Again’, does not disguise the worry about its collapse: Make it great again, he says, because it no longer is great, and it should be great, and I will make it great.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs did not emerge from Biden’s Executive Order. Many corporate efforts at diversity emerged or were expanded following the 2020 uprisings against racist terrorism sparked by the murder of George Floyd. These corporate efforts claimed to have a goal of addressing the underrepresentation of marginalized groups within their workforces and supply chains. These moves were in response to yet another moment in American history where the deep inequality between white and Black people in the U.S. was exposed as an ever growing chasm, rather than the rose-tinted example of American progress on racism that many believed capitalist success is, or inclusion into the capitalist system that claims to produce equal success for all.

Football star Tom Brady and rap legend Snoop Dogg will appear in a big-money Superbowl ad denouncing hatred. The ad is paid for by the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, a group staffed by Israel lobbyists that attempts to equate opposition to Israel’s destruction of Gaza with anti-Jewish racism. The group was founded by billionaire owner of the New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, who is one of the pro-Israel Lobby’s most generous benefactors. Kraft has used his power to attempt to crush the nationwide Palestine solidarity movement on campus and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

Four U.N. special rapporteurs have written jointly to the U.K. government demanding explanation of its inappropriate persecution of journalists and political activists under the Terrorism Act.
They state that those persecuted:
appear to have no credible connection to ‘terrorist’ or ‘hostile’ activity.
The cases taken up by the United Nations are those of Johanna Ross (Ganyukova), John Laughland, Kit Klarenberg, Craig Murray (yes, me), Richard Barnard and Richard Medhurst. Under this U.N. special procedure, the letter is sent to the government in question which has 60 days to respond. This letter was sent by the U.N. to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government on Dec. 4. No reply having been received, it has now been published.

Chicago, IL – On Thursday January 30, UPS announced a major cutback in Amazon package deliveries, with the goal of dropping over 50% of the volume from the company’s largest customer by June 2026. In conjunction, UPS is looking to permanently shutter 10% of buildings, shrink their fleet of vehicles and lay off workers.
The plan to close more buildings comes on the heels of the hard fought 2023 Teamsters contract, which resulted in major wage gains for part-timers and the end of the 2-tier system among package car drivers. The credible threat of a strike forced UPS to concede to the union’s demands in contract negotiations and look elsewhere for cost savings.

In an opinion piece on February 3, 2025, influential Prince Turki Al Faisal, the former Saudi ambassador to Washington and London and director-general of Saudi Arabia’s intelligence agency gives President Trump a history lesson about the Palestinian struggle and the probable Saudi official response to Trump’s off-the-wall declaration that the U.S. will “own Gaza and turn it into a resort.”
In a slap in the face of Israel and the United States, Prince Turki stated that if Palestinians in Gaza are moved, “they should be allowed to return to their homes and to their orange and olive groves in Haifa, Jaffa and other towns and villages from which they fled or were forcibly driven out by the Israelis.”

A day after all hell broke loose in reaction to President Donald Trump’s plan to remove 1.8 million Palestinians from Gaza, which he said the U.S. would rebuild and make a U.S territory, administration officials began backtracking as it emerged that only Trump himself knew he would make the plan public.
Asked in Guatemala about Trump’s intention to relocate the Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that Palestinians would be allowed to “move back in,” which was not what Trump had said the day before.

On January 20, as Donald Trump took office for the second time, it seemed that the “war on terror” prison at Guantánamo Bay, which had recently marked the 23rd anniversary of its opening, might become as marginalized and generally forgotten as it was in his first term in office, when he largely sealed it shut for four years.
Last Wednesday, however, and seemingly out of the blue, Trump suddenly announced that he had just issued a new executive order, “Expanding Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantánamo Bay to Full Capacity”, to expand an existing migrant detention facility at the naval base

Imperialist aggression against the DRC is rapidly expanding and hundreds of thousands of people continue to flee their homelands, while towns fall one by one into the hands of imperialist forces. The people are living in a situation of chaos and despair, deprived of security and essential resources such as housing, food and medicine. The Congolese people, who have long suffered the horrors of war, bloody conflict and the atrocities of colonization, are plunging into an even darker period.
To fully understand the current situation in the Congo, we need to take a closer look at history.

The fragility of US power was clear when a small Chinese startup released the DeepSeek machine learning program. The US stock market Nasdaq shuddered, with technology stocks collapsing. This collapse is not a minor matter for the US economy. During the post-COVID-19 inflation (2021), foreign investors began to slow down their purchase of US debt. Then, after the US seized USD 600 billion in Russia’s foreign exchange assets (2022), many central banks moved their own holdings away from the long-arm jurisdiction of the United States. US Treasury bills languished.

In a new analysis, acclaimed climate scientist Professor James Hansen and colleagues said that scientists had greatly underestimated the rate of global heating, and that the international target of two degrees Celsius is “dead.”
The analysis concluded that the combination of recent reductions in shipping pollution — which have the effect of blocking the sun — and increasing emissions from fossil fuels have been greater than previously thought, reported The Guardian.
“A shocking rise of warming has been exposed by, ironically, a reduction of pollutants, but we now have a new baseline and trajectory for where we are,” said Professor Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, as The Guardian reported.

On Tuesday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first foreign leader to meet Donald Trump in The White House during his second term. The meeting took place amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations between the Israeli government and Hamas.
Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Trump made the stunning announcement that the United States would try to take over Gaza.
“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too,” he said. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out.”
Under Trump’s Orders, Pentagon Plans ‘Permanent Withdrawal’ From Syria
Washington is drafting plans for a withdrawal of US military forces from Syria, two defense officials told NBC News on 4 February.
“The Defense Department is developing plans to withdraw all US troops from Syria,” the officials said.
As a result of US President Donald Trump and those close to him expressing an intention to pull out of Syria recently, Pentagon officials are “drawing up plans for a full withdrawal in 30, 60 or 90 days,” the report conveyed.
US defense officials told NBC that Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz visited CENTCOM’s headquarters last week, met with senior army officials, and received briefings on the region.
