Educate!

Education is the foundation of political change. In this section we provide news and analyses of current events that you won’t likely read or hear in the corporate media. Our sources are from organizations and independent media outlets free of corporate and government propaganda. We strongly encourage you to share these articles by email and social media so that together we create an echo chamber that overcomes the influence of the oligarchy. You will find large social media sharing buttons on the left side of each article when you open the article to read.

The Corporation For Public Broadcasting Shutdown

The truth is, from Nixon to Trump, Republicans were actually rather successful in manipulating the CPB to serve their partisan agenda. Back in 2005, when Republican Kenneth Tomlinson was in charge, the New York Times reported that the chairman aggressively pressed “public television to correct what he and other conservatives consider liberal bias.” The chief executive of PBS even accused Tomlinson of threatening “editorial independence.”  Peter Hart of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) further noted that an unnamed senior official at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) claimed Tomlinson was “engaged in a systematic effort not just to sanitize the truth, but to impose a right-wing agenda on PBS."

The Deep State’s Burst Appendix

Small wonder that the Deep State tried to keep under lock and key the explosive appendix to Special Counsel John Durham’s anemic May 2023 report on the Russiagate “scandal.” Sen. Charles Grassley, head of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, made it public on Thursday and it became the latest revelation in July to blow open the real scandal behind Russiagate.  It’s small wonder, too, that when Kash Patel won Senate approval to be F.B.I. director, former C.I.A. Director John Brennan, former F.B.I. Director James Comey, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper “lawyered up.” Clapper told CNN colleague Caitlin Collins last week he’d been lawyered up with “perpetual attorneys, since I left the government in 2017.”

Badar Khan Suri, Georgetown Researcher Abducted by ICE, Speaks Out

Dr. Badar Khan Suri was returning home from a campus iftar on March 17 when masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents jumped out of an unmarked car and detained him outside his home. He had not been charged with any crime. Suri is an interdisciplinary scholar focusing on religion, violence, and peace, especially in the Middle East and South Asia, and works as a researcher at the Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University. Over the course of two months, ICE held him in detention centers throughout the South. Since his release on May 14, he has been challenging his warrantless arrest and detention in federal court, bringing claims under the First and Fifth Amendments.

Artificial Intelligence Furthers Environmental Racism In Black America

When one of my best friends (who is also a pastor) encouraged me to look into utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for ministry purposes, I was exhilarated. It seemed like a game-changer at my fingertips. I used it to make presentations and outline Bible studies, saving time on the tasks that often fill my days. The opportunities seemed endless, and the convenience was remarkable. Regular projects and tasks that I had poured effort into before could now be completed in mere seconds. Not only did I start utilizing it, but I started singing its praises as well to all who would listen.

Zionists Accuse Yves Engler Of Genocide Denial

Yves Engler is a Canadian activist, a candidate to lead Canada’s New Democratic Party , and the author of many books about Canadian foreign policy, including Canada and Africa, 300 years of Aid and Exploitation . Shortly after he announced his candidacy to lead Canada’s New Democratic Party, B’nai Brith produced a press release accusing him of denying the Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, which others call the Rwandan Genocide. I spoke to him this week. ANN GARRISON: Yves Engler, what is B'nai B'rith , and why do you think they have suddenly attacked you over something you wrote eight years ago about the Rwandan Genocide?

Trump Deploys Nuclear Subs Amid War Of Words With Russia

US President Donald Trump ordered the repositioning of two nuclear submarines on 2 August in response to “highly provocative” comments made by Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council. “I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social Platform on Friday. On Thursday, Medvedev had warned that Trump should be mindful of “how dangerous” Russia's nuclear weapons could be.

The CIA Built Hundreds Of Covert Websites

The CIA didn’t just infiltrate governments; it infiltrated the internet itself. For over a decade, Langley operated a sprawling network of covert websites that served as global spy terminals disguised as harmless blogs, news hubs, and fan pages. Beginning in 2004, the CIA established a vast network of at least 885 websites, ranging from Johnny Carson and Star Wars fan pages to online message boards about Rastafari. Spanning 29 languages and targeting at least 36 countries directly, these websites were aimed not only at adversaries such as China, Venezuela, and Russia, but also at allied nations, including France, Italy, and Spain, showing that the United States treats its friends much like its foes.

The Deep Ties And Deeper Pockets Of Minnesota’s Far-Right

Maple Grove, MN – The Rush Creek Golf Club’s event space was filled with the din of knives and forks, scraping and tapping ceramic to the tune of conspiratorial chit chat, as a fluorescent white audience –mostly over the retirement age — shared with one another the latest misinformation to come across their Facebook feeds. At one of the many tables in the room, an old man in a trucker hat broke the ice with the man sitting next to him by diving right into the assassination of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman. For him, it was just another example of how the Democrats will stop at nothing to steal his tax dollars.

Border Patrol And ICE Agents Are Arresting US Citizens

Since federal agents descended onto Los Angeles streets in early June, several United States citizens have been detained and held in immigration detention centers. A Capital & Main review of local reporting, video and social media posts found at least nine citizens were taken into custody by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or U.S. Customs and Border Protection after protesting near or observing immigration raids in the Los Angeles area since June 6. Two are currently facing federal charges.  Job Garcia arrived at the Home Depot in Hollywood for his delivery gig for another company on the morning of June 19 expecting to have a regular day.

Water Crisis Deepens In Puerto Rico

The severe drinking water crisis in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is worsening, and is not limited to the old colonial city but also affects other municipalities across the country. However, San Juan has become the focus of public opinion due to the high influx of tourists who come to the city as part of Caribbean cruise itineraries, as well as for summer concerts, such as the upcoming Bad Bunny shows. The water shortage that began on July 24 is not only affecting tourism, but also other types of businesses, many of which have recently decided to temporarily close or reduce their activities, dealing a major blow to an already struggling economy.

Unilateral And Illegal Sanctions Kill Half A Million Civilians Per Year

Those who do not live in war zones or in suffocated countries are forced to live life as if there is nothing strange about what is happening around us. When we read about war, it is disconnected from our lives, and many of us want to stop listening to anything about the human misery caused by weapons or by sanctions. The scholasticism of the academic and the hushed tones of the diplomat are silenced as the bomb and the bank wage war against the planet. After authorising the atom bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima (Japan) on 6 August 1945, US President Harry S. Truman announced on the radio: ‘If [the Japanese] do not now accept our terms, they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this earth’.

Obama Colluded With The Surveillance State Against Trump

“It probably helps him a lot, the immunity ruling. But it doesn’t help the people around him at all. It probably helps him a lot. He’s done criminal acts, no question about it but he has immunity and it probably helps him a lot. He owes me big. Obama owes me big.” - Donald Trump on his treason accusations against Barack Obama Because immigrants around the country are being snatched off the streets and detained by masked ICE agents without any due process, and because the United States remains committed to aiding Israel’s genocidal grip on Gaza, it isn’t easy to write the words, “Donald Trump was right.”

Media Largely Ignored Gaza Famine When There Was Time To Avert Mass Starvation

Since the October 7 attacks, Israel has severely restricted humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, using starvation of civilians as a tool of war, a war crime for which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Yoav Gallant have been charged by the International Criminal Court. Gallant proclaimed a “complete siege” of Gaza on October 9, 2023: “There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed.” Aid groups warned of famine conditions in parts of Gaza as early as December 2023. By April 2024, USAID administrator Samantha Power (CNN, 4/11/24) found it “likely that parts of Gaza, and particularly northern Gaza, are already experiencing famine.”

Immigration Officers Smash Car Windows To Speed Up Arrests

A month into the new Trump administration, on the predawn streets of suburban Maryland, a high-ranking ICE official stood alongside a Mazda sedan that his officers had just stopped. The official told a local TV reporter at the scene what was about to happen. “He can either give us a license,” he said, “or we’ll smash the fucking window out and drag him out.” Then, as the driver refused to exit the car, officers broke the glass. It was one of nearly 50 documented instances of immigration agents breaking vehicle windows that ProPublica has identified from social media, local news accounts, lawsuits and interviews since President Donald Trump took office six months ago.

Human Rights Obligations At Canadian Embassies Dead On Arrival

Over the winter, hundreds of demonstrators in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia denounced a Canadian gold mine owned by Aris Mining in the eastern Andean wetlands. They were rallied by the Comité Santurbán, a collective of activists protecting the vulnerable Santurbán watershed, known as a páramo, from industrial mining. Opposition has been ongoing for at least 16 years. But this past December, members of the Comité were designated by a group supporting the Canadian mine as “persona non grata.” In October, they were labelled as “enemies of progress in Santander” and accused of being responsible for “the deterioration of the country’s heritage”.
