UK Police Raids Home Of Palestine Action Supporters

Counterterrorism police in the UK arrested five members of Defend Our Juries (DOJ) in dawn raids on 2 September, just hours before the group was due to announce details of a mass protest in London. The press conference, which had been set to confirm that the threshold for Saturday’s action had been met, was postponed until Wednesday after UK police raided the homes of the five DOJ spokespeople, including former government lawyer Tim Crosland and law student Paddy Friend. DOJ said those detained were “key spokespeople,” including former government lawyer Tim Crosland and law student Paddy Friend. Witnesses reported that Friend was arrested under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 for hosting a Zoom call with campaign members.

US Forces Destroy Small ‘Venezuelan’ Boat Allegedly Carrying Drugs

President Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that US troops deployed to the Caribbean attacked and destroyed a “drug ship” that had left Venezuela. “Just a few minutes ago, literally, we shot down a vessel that was carrying drugs, a large amount of drugs. You’ll see it and read about it. It just happened moments ago,” the US president said at a press conference in the Oval Office. He said he had just been briefed on the matter by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Daniel “Razin” Caine. “We have a lot of drugs coming into our country, coming in for a long time, and they just came out of Venezuela… A lot of things are coming out of Venezuela, so we got rid of them,” Trump said.

The Great Hoax Against Venezuela: Oil Geopolitics Disguised As ‘War On Drugs’

During my time as head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), I frequently travelled to Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Brazil, but never to Venezuela. There was simply no need. The Venezuelan government’s collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking was among the best in South America, rivalled only by Cuba’s impeccable record. This makes Trump’s narrative of a “narco-state” in Venezuela sound like geopolitically motivated slander. The 2025 World Drug Report tells a story that is the opposite of the narrative peddled by the Trump administration. Piece by piece, the report dismantles the geopolitical lie built around the “Cartel de los Soles”, an entity as mythical as the Loch Ness Monster, but which is useful for justifying sanctions, blockades and threats of military intervention against a country which, incidentally, sits on one of the planet’s largest oil reserves.

Scores Of Climate Experts Condemn Trump Climate Report As ‘Junk Science’

A group of more than 85 climate experts today released a scathing review of the Trump administration’s “Climate Working Group” report on climate change science, condemning it as “biased, full of errors, and not fit to inform policymaking.” The reviewers include MacArthur “Genius” Fellows, a half-dozen members of the National Academy of Sciences, Royal Society fellows, and fellows from other prominent scientific organizations including the American Meteorological Society, which issued its own separate statement criticizing the Climate Working Group report. They found that the federal report “exhibits pervasive problems with misrepresentation and selective citation of the scientific literature, cherry-picking of data, and faulty or absent statistics” in order “to downplay the risks of record-breaking heat, intense rainfall, worsening wildfires, rising sea levels, and widespread health harms – all well-established by decades of peer-reviewed science.”

Israeli Minister Of National Security Reveals He Doesn’t Know His Prisons

As many boats in the Global Sumud flotilla with hundreds of participants from around the world get set to depart from Barcelona and Tunis and a third wave of ships prepares for a late September departure to challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza and the genocide of Palestinians, the headline in the September 1,  2025 Jerusalem Post reads “Ben-Gvir plans to designate Global Sumud Flotilla activists as terrorists, seize boats.” Ben-Gvir goes on to say that “Activists will be held in prisons for terrorists and will be denied special privileges such as television, radio, and specialized food.” Well, having been twice (2010 and 2016) in Israeli prison for being on boats challenging the illegal Israeli naval blockade of Gaza, I am sure Ben-Gvir has never been in his own prisons.

Iran’s Parliament Vows ‘Decisive’ Payback To Snapback Of Sanctions

The Iranian legislature raised the alarm in a closed session on Tuesday as the lawmakers reviewed for one and a half hours the repercussions of the anti-Tehran move on the country’s economy and other fields. Germany, France and Britain, the three European signatories — the European troika or E3 — to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), announced last week they would invoke the snapback procedure, a clause that reinstates pre-JCPOA era sanctions on Tehran over claims of the Islamic Republic’s “significant non-compliance” with the landmark pact. The snapback mechanism, defined in UN Security Council Resolution 2231, opens 30 days before the restoration of previously terminated UN Security Council sanctions against Iran.

‘Crime’, The Trojan Horse For Colonial Control

The concept of “crime” is not a fixed, objective reality but a fluid and politically potent construct which has been meticulously weaponized to serve the interests of power. Crime is in fact a dialectical product of the very systems of domination it purportedly challenges. An elusive chameleon, the shifting definitions of crime justifies the expansion of state control, the suppression of dissent, and the advancement of imperial projects, both domestically and globally. Whether “high crime” or “low crime” , the rhetoric is rarely about public safety; rather, it is the primary language through which state agencies validate their own existence, and the imperialist state escalates its violence, masking the carceral and militaristic enforcement of social order to maintain hegemony under the guise of moral necessity.

The Betrayal Of Palestinian Journalists

There are two types of war correspondents. The first type does not attend press conferences. They do not beg generals and politicians for interviews. They take risks to report from combat zones. They send back to their viewers or readers what they see, which is almost always diametrically opposed to official narratives. This first type, in every war, is a tiny minority. Then there is the second type, the inchoate blob of self-identified war correspondents who play at war. Despite what they tell editors and the public, they have no intention of putting themselves in danger. They are pleased with the Israeli ban on foreign reporters into Gaza. They plead with officials for background briefings and press conferences.

Global Sumud Flotilla Heads Back To Port Due To Inclement Weather

The Global Sumud Flotilla, dubbed the largest in history, was forced back to Barcelona on 1 September after storms struck Catalonia, with organizers saying the decision was taken to prioritize safety as winds reached over 56 kilometers per hour. The convoy is comprised of around 20 boats with participants from 44 countries and is reportedly carrying over 300 tons of aid to help relieve the starving people of Gaza, with additional vessels expected to join the expedition in Tunis and Sicily. The fleet departed Barcelona a day earlier under the cheers of thousands of supporters who gathered at the departure point, in an effort to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, but turned back fearing that the smaller vessels could not withstand the storm.

Europe Just Made War With Iran More Likely

France, Germany, and the UK (E3) have announced they will trigger snapback sanctions on Iran at the United Nations. This will launch a 30-day process that will likely culminate in the full reinstatement of all U.N. sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal. The move will carry four major consequences. First, the U.N. Security Council will formally adopt the demand — pushed by Israel — that Iran cease all uranium enrichment. Israel designed this demand to sabotage nuclear diplomacy and edge the conflict toward war. Next, a U.N. arms embargo on Iran will return, potentially curbing Tehran’s ability to rebuild deterrence against future Israeli or American strikes, provided Russia and China treat the snapback as legitimate and enforce it.

Unions Aren’t Just Good For Workers; They Benefit Communities, Democracy

We know that unions promote economic equality and build worker power, helping workers to win increases in pay, better benefits, and safer working conditions. But that’s not all unions do. Unions also have powerful effects on people’s lives outside of work. They help foster solidarity, promote civic and political engagement, provide reliable information to working-class communities about how economic policies impact their lives, and serve as a counterweight to corporate power in our democracy. Throughout history, unions have been engines of resistance to entrenched and undemocratic power—mobilizing working people to challenge inequality, defend civil rights, and push back against authoritarianism in all its forms.

Tracing The Rise And Fall Of New Orleans Working Class

On October 24, 1892, nearly 3,000 New Orleans Teamsters, Scalesmen and Packers—known as the Triple Alliance or Triple A—walked off their jobs on the levees to demand overtime pay, a 10-hour-workday, and a closed shop. Representing merchants, railroad owners, and commodities exchanges, the Board of Trade announced that it would sign an agreement with the unions representing the white Scalesmen and Packers’ unions but under no circumstance would it enter into an agreement with “niggers,” as they referred to the Black Teamsters. The New Orleans Times-Democrat did its part to put its thumb on the scales by fabricating front-page stories with hysterical headlines such as “Negroes Attack White Man,” and “Assaulted by Negroes,” but nothing took.

Microsoft Sacks More Employees For Protesting Gaza Genocide

Microsoft announced on 29 August that an additional four employees were fired for participating in on-site protests against the company’s deep ties to Israel, including its role in providing surveillance tools used in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. The protest group “No Azure for Apartheid” said on Wednesday that Anna Hattle and Riki Fameli received voicemails notifying them of their dismissal after staging sit-in protests inside the office of President Brad Smith this week A day later, it reported that two more workers, Nisreen Jaradat and Julius Shan, had also been fired. The group stated that all four had been involved in protests, including recent encampments outside Microsoft's headquarters.

Yemen Confirms Prime Minister Killed In Israeli Strike On Sanaa

A Houthi official has vowed “vengeance” against Israel after the Yemeni group confirmed that an Israeli air strike earlier this week killed the prime minister of the Houthis’ government in the capital, Sanaa. Ahmed al-Rahawi was killed in a Thursday strike on Sanaa along with “several” other ministers, the Houthis said in a statement on Saturday. Al-Rahawi, who served as prime minister in areas of the divided country that the group controls, was targeted along with other members of the Houthi-led government during a workshop, the statement said. The Houthis did not specify how many other ministers were also killed in the Israeli attack.

Prominent Ukrainian Fascist Shot Dead In Lviv

Earlier today the Ukraine Member of Parliament Andriy Parubiy was shot dead in Lviv (aka Lvov, Lemberg). Parubiy was walking down a road near his home when a man with a motorcycle helmet and a delivery bag came up behind him. The man lifted a pistol and shot Parubiy seven or eight times before walking away. About a year ago another prominent rightwing person, Iryna Farion, was also killed in Lviv. Parubiy was the organizer and commander of the fascist militia during the Maidan coup in February 2014. During those days several snipers from Georgia, stationed at the Hotel Ukraina which was under opposition control, fired and killed policemen as well as protesters.
