“If capitalism doesn’t resolve the crisis, people might remember socialism,” reflected Gyula Thürmer of the Hungarian Workers’ Party during a discussion on the far right in Europe. He was speaking at the Fascism Back in Europe? conference, organized by the Zetkin Forum in Berlin from June 20-22. His comment encapsulated one of the lingering themes of the conference: how the economic crisis, corporate domination, and historical revisionism are fueling the rise of authoritarian and far-right forces across both Eastern and Western Europe.
In addition to Thürmer, speakers at the conference such as Vladimir Bortun, Jelena Đureinović, and Florian Nowicki traced how decades of austerity, deindustrialization, and the dominance of international capital have devastated working-class communities in Eastern Europe, creating fertile ground for nationalist, authoritarian politics.
As The State’s Complexion Darkens, Minnesota’s Liberalism Wanes

My, how times have changed.
Ninety-three percent white as recently as 1970, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St, Paul has seen its minority population nearly quintuple to 31 percent since Mary Tyler Moore last tossed her bonnet towards the Minneapolis skyline in the iconic opening of her eponymous show. An influx of African Americans, Hmong, Laotians, Latinos and east African refugees has reshaped the politics of this metropolitan area that was widely regarded as among the most liberal in the country a generation ago, eclipsed only by San Francisco and Seattle in the minds of many.
The arrest Monday of a Minnesota man on charges that he assassinated one state lawmaker and shot another is yet another reminder that the state is not the quaint, Scandinavian enclave that was the basis of Garrison Keillor’s Lake Wobegon.
Anti-Worker Policies, Capitalism, And Privatization Keep South Poor

The central function of government should be to protect people from harm, exploitation, and abuse. Yet on this core task, many Southern state governments have performed abhorrently—largely by design. EPI’s Rooted in Racism and Economic Exploitation series1 has shown how for most of the past two centuries, Southern state governments have embraced an economic development strategy—the Southern economic development model—designed to undermine job quality and suppress worker power, particularly for Black and brown workers. The model aims to maintain a pool of exploitable, available labor, and preserve the racial and economic hierarchies established during slavery.
The Only Weapons Of Mass Destruction In The Middle East Are Zionism, Israel’s Nukes And US/Western Imperialism

The zionist ethnostate has been spoiling for a war with Iran for decades. Who can forget the comedic, cartoonish, yet dark presentation of Benjamin Netanyahu to the United Nations in 2012 when he suggested that Iran was on the brink of developing a nuclear weapon. Netanyahu and other neocons have been peddling the false narrative about Iran’s nuclear timeline for decades, but this time is much different because it was acted upon, which has resulted in more death, more illegal acts that are egregious violations of international law and more global instability at the hands of the zionist ethnostate and its willing collaborators in the U.S. and the West.
The United States’ Plan To Bomb Iran

A plan was developed for the United States to use diplomacy to entice Iran into negotiations that then fail, so Iran can be attacked while the U.S. is pushing a false narrative saying the Iranians “brought it on themselves.”
The plan also urged the U.S. to encourage or assist the Israelis, as a direct U.S. proxy, to conduct the strikes on Iran so as to deflect criticism and retaliation onto Israel, as Declassified Australia reports.
The audacious plan for a “plausibly deniable” war is detailed in an analysis flippantly titled “Leave It To Bibi: Allowing or Encouraging an Israeli Military Strike,” published in a report named Which Path To Persia: Options for a New American Strategy Towards Iran by the Brookings Institution, a longstanding Washington, D.C., think tank.
Is The United States’ Story Of Its Attack On Iran Accurate?
The Pentagon claims that 30 cruise missiles were fired from submarines against Iranian nuclear sites near Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow. The main strike was allegedly by three B-2 heavy bomber which dropped six bunker buster bombs on the buried enrichment facility in Fordow. There are doubts that this indeed has happened. What we do know for sure is that the U.S. has launched an unprovoked, illegitimate attack against another country. The attack was also in breach of the Non-Nuclear Proliferation Treaty. Iran could, and now maybe should, resign from that treaty and reject inspections by IAEA personnel.

An official in the administration of President Donald Trump has told The Grayzone that CIA Director John Ratcliffe and US CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Kurilla have become vehicles for Israel’s Mossad and military as they seek to manipulate the US into attacking Iran. The Trump official referred to Ratcliffe as “Mossad’s stenographer.”
According to the official, Ratcliffe and Kurilla have pressured Trump to join Israel’s war more directly by regurgitating overblown briefings they received from the Israeli military and Mossad director David Barnea – but without informing the president that the intelligence was derived from a foreign third party.

The auction of CITGO Petroleum, a key subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) in the United States and illegally seized by the US government, is in its final stages, marking a crucial moment not only for Venezuela but also for other countries with investments in the US. According to recent reports, the judicial process, which will culminate in the illegal sale of Citgo, is continuing despite protests from President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
The company, which owns strategic refineries in Texas, Louisiana, and Illinois, represents Venezuela’s most valuable asset outside its borders, with a significant pipeline network and more than 4,000 gas stations in the United States.

“I don’t care what she said.”
That’s what U.S. President Donald Trump said when a reporter confronted him with the one point that every reporter should be bringing up to him: “Tulsi Gabbard testified in March that the Intelligence Community said that Iran wasn’t building a nuclear weapon.”
The President of the United States, with no evidence, stated that he simply believes a very key, yet false, point to be true despite his own intelligence services telling him that it isn’t. And on that basis, he may bring the United States into yet another doomed war in the Middle East.
If The United States Targets Iran, Gulf States Face A Choice

The rapidly escalating war between Iran and Israel has catapulted the Persian Gulf states into a vortex of geopolitical peril. Situated on strategic terrain and hosting a dense network of US military installations, these states are acutely aware that any US decision to join the warfront will obliterate their already-fragile neutrality. Their territories would then morph into frontline targets.
As the US-backed Israeli war on Iran escalates, the Persian Gulf monarchies are attempting a delicate balancing act – preserving security, safeguarding energy exports, and sidestepping an open-ended war that could raze vital sectors like aviation and desalination.
Unhoused Why? It’s Always About The Land

In 2024, the U.S.’ unhoused population increased by 18%, which translates into approximately 770,000 individuals living on the streets. This is a consistent annual increase over the previous years. (This information was recently removed from HUD’s website.) It is not that the U.S. does not have enough land or buildings to house its people, but that capitalist greed ensures significant segments of the population remain unhoused on purpose. Compounding the current homelessness crisis, also surging in other industrialized countries, is that the ruling class engages in global land grabs, what Marx/Engels dubbed “the clearings.”

In 2022, Alabama became one of the first states in the nation to ban slavery without exception. A constitutional amendment, passed overwhelmingly by voters, removed language that had long allowed involuntary servitude to continue in state prisons — a holdover from the 13th Amendment’s infamous “exception clause.” The 13th Amendment, though widely celebrated at the time for abolishing most forms of slavery, still allows for involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime, and has remained the legal backbone for the vast system of prison labor in the U.S., where incarcerated people can be compelled to work under threat of punishment.
Three Years Could Be Left To Limit Warming To 1.5 Degrees

Leading climate scientists are warning that the timeframe to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius is shrinking, and the world could have just three years left to prevent breaching this limit.
Experts warn the threshold could be passed within the next few years, with Piers Forster, director at the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures at University of Leeds, noting that “Things are all moving in the wrong direction” with global heating and sea level rise, as reported by BBC.
Forster lead a recent study with more than 60 leading climate scientists from around the world that determined countries have continued to “burn record amounts of coal, oil and gas and chop down carbon-rich forests,” which has left the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Agreement at risk.

For decades, advocates of renewable energy have argued that solar panels and wind turbines can be so much more than clean sources of power. By allowing communities to come together to generate their own electricity, small-scale projects can serve the twin goals of decentralising power markets and fostering democratic participation. And that’s before counting the savings for members on their monthly bills.
This vision appeared to come a step closer to reality in 2020, when the European Union allocated 750 billion euros in NextGenerationEU post-pandemic recovery funds to boost green and digital industries.
