This summer, there were days in tropical cities when it was unbearable to walk out in the sunlight. In Mango, Togo, for instance, the temperature soared to 44°C in March and April. Heat maps depict a world on fire, red hot flames licking the planet from the equator outwards. If the air temperature is around 44°C, then the temperature of asphalt and concrete surfaces can exceed 60°C. Since second-degree burns occur in less than five seconds at 60°C, those exposed to that heat are liable to burn their skin. Walking the streets of these burning cities is hard enough with shoes – imagine what it must be like for the millions of people who lack appropriate footwear but must work outdoors during the hottest parts of the day.

The zionist ethnostate’s recent pause in hostilities against the people of Gaza due to so-called Phase 1 of President Trump’s 20 Point Gaza Peace Plan has resulted in a collective sigh of relief for many the world over, who have observed and/or have been victims of the ongoing genocidal onslaught that’s pillaged an estimated 70,000 lives, including approximately 20,000 women and children, included the use of starvation as a weapon, and has reduced the Gaza Strip to rubble as critical infrastructure including homes, schools/universities, hospitals and places of worship have all been decimated by the Israel Occupying Force’s (IOF) war machine that has been aided, abetted, and funded by the United States and other Western governments.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s words earlier this month were a clear declaration that the relatively calm waters of the Eastern Mediterranean have become the front line in a wider geopolitical conflict.
The threat that “Turkiye will strike first” was not only directed at Greece, Cyprus, or Israel, but at the new security architecture forming on the edge of the west, what can be called the “Mediterranean Arc.” This tripartite strategic partnership has evolved beyond a regional coalition countering Ankara’s ambitions. It now forms a critical node in a broader geopolitical constellation known as the Indo-Mediterranean Rim – the central stage of intensifying competition between the US and China across Eurasia and beyond.

The head of US Southern Command, the military commander overseeing US escalations in the Caribbean and the push toward an attempt at regime change in Venezuela, is stepping down, the Pentagon announced on Thursday.
According to a statement from SOUTHCOM Commander Adm. Alvin Holsey, who served in the position for less than a year, he will be retiring on December 12, 2025, ending a 37-year military career.
No reason was given for his resignation, but according to The New York Times, he had raised concerns about the US military mission in the Caribbean, which has involved a significant buildup of forces and the bombing of five boats that the Trump administration has claimed, without providing evidence, were carrying drugs.
More Than 170 US Citizens Have Been Held By Immigration Agents

When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents in the Los Angeles area to take race into consideration during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned.
“If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States,” Kavanaugh wrote, “they promptly let the individual go.”
But that is far from the reality many citizens have experienced. Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents. They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

The level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose by the largest amount ever recorded in 2024, the UN has reported, as researchers warn of the dangers of feedback loops that are pushing the climate crisis to new heights and many global powers do nothing to mitigate emissions.
According to the latest bulletin by the UN’s World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the global average concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increased by 3.5 parts per million between 2023 and 2024. This is the highest single-year increase since modern records began in 1957.
Sanctuary: Why Portland And Venezuela Are In Washington’s Crosshairs

Portland, Oregon was my sanctuary as a teenager. I was a weird kid, a label I mostly embraced. But being different in my hometown rural north Idaho was exhausting. When I needed to recharge myself, I would drive the nine hours to Portland to bask in the city that accepted me just as I was.
Maybe that is the Trump administration’s problem with Portland today: it is literally a sanctuary city.
Oregon became the first state to pass a sanctuary bill in 1987. Thirty years later, Portland passed a sanctuary city resolution. These laws prohibit state and city officials, including police, from cooperating with federal immigration enforcement.
Since September, President Trump has been threatening to send National Guard troops into Portland, ostensibly to quell protests in what he calls a “burning hell hole.” Oregon lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, however, united to reject this federal intervention in the Rose City, and are working together to prevent it.

The Black Alliance for Peace Africa Team and U.S. Out of Africa Network join the masses in Nigeria and across the African continent in mourning the tragic loss of our comrade and U.S. Out of Africa Network Steering Committee member, Abiodun Aremu.
Comrade Aremu was a Pan-Africanist and an internationalist in the truest sense. His profound understanding of the struggle extended beyond the borders of Nigeria, rooted in a deep commitment to the liberation of the entire African working class from the grip of imperialism. As a teacher and a steadfast general, his life was dedicated to the ideological and political work necessary for our collective emancipation, exemplified by his founding of the Amilcar Cabral Institute of Ideological Studies.
By Enabling Police Surveillance, Elected Officials Fuel Trump’s Agenda
In a remarkable series of avoidable mistakes, elected officials in Illinois have demonstrated to the rest of the country the impossibility of meaningful regulation of police use of surveillance technology.
In May of this year, 404 Media published evidence that Illinois automated license plate reader data was being accessed on behalf of federal agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement as well as directly by law enforcement agencies across the country, including in Texas, who used the information for immigration enforcement and to monitor people seeking abortions.
US Control Of The Caribbean And Its Multiform War Against Venezuela

For centuries, the peoples of the Central American isthmus have had to face the consequences of the ambitions of European and US ruling elites for control of the Caribbean region. Since the 16th century, the great maritime powers, Spain, France, England and to a lesser extent Holland, disputed control of the islands and coasts of the Caribbean so as to exploit their natural resources and control the region’s commercial and military strategic points. For Nicaragua, foreign interference intensified greatly in the middle of the 19th century with the rivalry between European powers and North American elites over control of the routes of a possible interoceanic canal.
Canadians Are On Year Three Of A People’s Recession

A new Deloitte report is projecting 1.3 percent GDP growth for Canada this year. The same report says that as long as Donald Trump keeps the CUSMA carve-outs in his tariff plan—meaning that most of the goods we export to the United States won’t face tariffs—we can look forward to 1.7 percent growth next year. This would mark a return to the growth rates we saw in 2023 and 2024.
Economists seem cautiously optimistic that Canada will avoid a recession and return to a period of relative stability.
This should be great news. On paper, the economy has proved its resilience in the face of serious challenges. But why then do things feel increasingly precarious?

Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution has been in the vanguard of the Global South. In contrast, President Javiar Milei’s government in Argentina represents the logical, though absurd, consequence of extreme neoliberalism, which he calls “anarcho-capitalism.”
Western Hemispheric geopolitics reflect the weakening of US hegemony and an emerging multipolarity, especially with China’s entry as a major regional trading partner. US imperialism’s response, started well before Trump, has been to weaponize the dollar, impose illegal and crippling economic sanctions, and levy arbitrary tariffs. When these fail, the recourse is to military aggression.

Behind the fight against hate, a trend of repressing dissenting voices is emerging. Titled Criminalisation and Narrative Control: Solidarity with Palestine in the Crosshairs, the report documents how across all the countries studied, the dynamics observed since 7 October 2023 have intensified pre-existing structural trends: the continued shrinking of civic space, the weakening of democratic safeguards, the normalisation of Islamophobia, and the institutionalisation of racial profiling.
Under the guise of maintaining public order, fighting antisemitism, or protecting national security, authorities have resorted to exceptional measures such as bans on demonstrations, arbitrary arrests, repression within academic institutions, media censorship, and legislative threats.

In the aftermath of the devastating war on Gaza, the most pressing question is no longer about a ceasefire or reconstruction, but about who will govern the enclave.
This is a struggle over meaning, legitimacy, and sovereignty. Will the future of Gaza be shaped by its people, or by the same foreign powers that helped destroy it under the banner of “salvation”?
Every time the gates of ‘reconstruction’ and ‘aid’ are opened, the windows of sovereignty are slammed shut. What unfolds is a recurring colonial spectacle: a Palestinian political order remade under foreign supervision, where ‘political realism’ is promoted as a substitute for justice, and ‘technocracy’ is marketed as a sterile alternative to resistance.

On Tuesday, US ruler Donald Trump claimed that US military forces deployed in the Caribbean Sea carried out a new attack on a small boat “off the coast of Venezuela,” without specifying a precise location, killing six people he alleged were carrying drugs.
Since Sept. 2, Trump has allegedly ordered military strikes on at least five boats in the Caribbean Sea that his regime insists were carrying drugs to the US. This latest illegal action brings the number of extrajudicial killings committed by US military forces to 27 unidentified civilians.
Through Truth Social, the White House tenant published that his secretary of war, Peter Hegseth, ordered a “lethal kinetic attack” against a small boat supposedly off the coast of Venezuela, based on information allegedly provided by US intelligence.
