The US And Israel Partnered With Syria’s President To Massacre Druze

As video after video of horrendous atrocities spreads on social media from the governorate of Suwayda in Syria, evidence indicates that the Syrian government’s sectarian slaughter of the Druze religious minority was orchestrated by the US and Israel. The massacres are part of a broader effort to force the Druze to seek protection from Israel and thereby give the Jewish state a pretext to further occupy Syria’s south, establish David’s Corridor, and keep the country weak and divided. Syrian president Ahmad al-Sharaa, the former ISIS commander long groomed by the US and UK to take power in Damascus, proved a reliable agent in executing the plan.

Colombia’s Courts Finds Álvaro Uribe Guilty After 13-Year Judicial Process

On Monday, Judge Sandra Liliana Heredia, 44th judge of the Bogotá criminal court, found former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez guilty of witness bribery and procedural fraud. The verdict concludes a 13-year judicial process fraught with political tensions, complex evidence, and heated debate over the independence of Colombia’s judiciary. At the hearing’s start, Heredia sent a forceful message to the country: “The wait is over. We want to tell Colombia that justice has arrived.” The judge called this one of the most significant moments in recent judicial history.

Independent Union Loses Bid To Represent Second Mexico GM Plant

The independent National Auto Workers Union (SINTTIA) lost its bid to represent General Motors workers at the company’s San Luis Potosí SUV plant. Workers there voted to join another union, Carlos Leone, with ties to the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM), which is notorious for its employer-friendly contracts. SINTTIA, which has represented workers at another Mexican GM pickup truck plant since 2022, received 1,115 votes, while the Carlos Leone union pulled in 1,888. Only half of the plant’s 6,500 workers voted. SINTTIA alleges that the Carlos Leone union received support from GM management.

The Drying Planet

As the planet gets hotter and its reservoirs shrink and its glaciers melt, people have increasingly drilled into a largely ungoverned, invisible cache of fresh water: the vast, hidden pools found deep underground. Now, a new study that examines the world’s total supply of fresh water — accounting for its rivers and rain, ice and aquifers together — warns that Earth’s most essential resource is quickly disappearing, signaling what the paper’s authors describe as “a critical, emerging threat to humanity.” The landmasses of the planet are drying. In most places there is less precipitation even as moisture evaporates from the soil faster.

Trump Targets Latino Migrants: Ideology Over Humanity

The importance of Latinos living and working in the US is enormous: if they were in a separate country, it would be the world’s fifth largest economy, bigger than even India. President Trump is recklessly attacking Latino migrants, inflicting calculated cruelty and disregarding the consequences for their home countries. Disastrously, US immigration policy affects the very victims of Washington’s destabilization campaigns in Latin America and Caribbean, which drive people to leave their homelands in the first place. In effect, by exporting chaos, the hegemon paradoxically ends up importing immigrants.

West Bank On The Brink

Israel is meticulously following a textbook model of instigating unrest in the occupied West Bank. The latest such provocations consisted of stripping the Palestinian-run Hebron (Al-Khalil) municipality of its administrative powers over the venerable Ibrahimi Mosque. Worse, according to Israel Hayom, it granted these powers to the religious council of the Kiryat Arba Jewish settlement, an extremist settler body. Though all Jewish settlers in occupied Palestine can be qualified as extremists, the approximately 7,500 inhabitants of Kiryat Arba represent a more virulent category.

International And Internal Pressure On Israel Building; Concentration Camp Stalled

Two leading Israeli human rights organizations issued reports on 28 July accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, marking the first time any major Israeli group has made such a declaration. “An examination of Israel’s policy in the Gaza Strip and its horrific outcomes, together with statements by senior Israeli politicians and military commanders about the goals of the attack, leads to the unequivocal conclusion that Israel is taking coordinated, deliberate action to destroy Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip,” B’Tselem wrote.

Blatant Attacks On International Law Are Nothing New For The US

The Donald Trump administration has launched many frontal attacks on multilateral organizations and international law. However, these clear violations of international law are nothing new for US presidents. Opposition to multilateralism has been a bipartisan feature of US politics for many decades. In February, Trump withdrew the United States from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), repeating an action he had done back in 2018, during his first term. The Trump administration also attacked the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and announced that he had cut US funding for both UNRWA and the UNHRC.

Gamaan: The Polling Op That’s Gaslighting The West About Iran

The Group for Analyzing and Measuring Attitudes in Iran (GAMAAN), an influential Dutch polling group cited by the New York Times, U.S. State Department and U.K. government, claims to capture the true views of everyday Iranians through unconventional online surveys. GAMAAN calls itself an “independent” research foundation, a label echoed by news outlets and think tanks covering the group’s headline-grabbing findings, which portray the Iranian public as far more secular and anti-government than data from organizations such as Gallup and Pew Research suggest.

Universal Health Coverage At A Crossroads

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) continues to dominate the global health agenda. At this year’s World Health Assembly (WHA78), UHC was again hailed as the cornerstone of resilient health systems. However, while governments reaffirmed their commitments, millions of people continue to face catastrophic health costs, essential services remain out of reach, and primary healthcare systems are stretched beyond breaking. The world is not on track to achieve UHC – and it is not because of a lack of guidance. It’s because of the wrong strategy.

World’s Governments Fail On Moratorium On Deep-Sea Mining

Despite growing momentum, world governments failed to agree to a moratorium on deep-sea mining as the 30th session of the International Seabed Authority wrapped up on Friday. The authority’s July meeting was the first since U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to expedite permits for deep-sea mining under U.S. authority and The Metals Company (TMC) promptly applied for U.S. permits. Governments rebuked the U.S. and TMC for their unilateral approach and did not agree on a mining code that would allow the controversial practice to move forward under international law.

The Gaza Riviera

Israelis do not see the images of skeletal corpses of Palestinian children who they have starved to death as a curse. They do not see the slain families they gun down at food hubs — designed not to deliver aid but lure starving Palestinians into a massive concentration camp in the south of Gaza in preparation for deportation — as a war crime. Israelis do not look at the savage bombing and shelling that kill or wound dozens of Palestinian civilians, where an average of 28 children die daily, as anything extraordinary. They do not see the wasteland of Gaza, pulverized by bombs and methodically being torn down by bulldozers and excavators, leaving virtually the entire population of Gaza homeless, as barbaric.

United States Pulls Out Of Gaza Ceasefire Talks

The U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, said on Monday that the U.S. will consider “alternative options” to negotiating with Hamas following the breakdown of ceasefire talks between Israel and the resistance group. Witkoff’s statements came as part of his announcement of Washington’s withdrawal from the talks in Qatar, only a day after Hamas presented its response to the latest Witkoff proposal. Witkoff’s statement that the U.S. would find another way of securing “stability” in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages in the Strip was later backed with a similar statement from President Trump, who said on Friday that Hamas “didn’t really want to make a deal.”

Iran Confronts Europe’s Trigger Mechanism With Eurasian Allies

On 22 July, Tehran hosted a high-level trilateral summit with senior officials from Russia and China to coordinate nuclear and sanctions strategies ahead of Iran’s scheduled negotiations with the European Troika in Istanbul today. All three delegations reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination on the nuclear file and pledged to expand consultations aimed at countering western policies, particularly US-led sanctions. The trilateral meeting followed a sharp escalation in nuclear tensions. Just last month, the US and Israel launched coordinated airstrikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, prompting Tehran to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

US Gas Exporters Are Sweating Over Meeting Europe’s Pollution Standards

As Europe races toward a U.S. trade deal, lobbyists for America’s biggest natural gas exporters are pushing to carve a major loophole in the EU’s methane rules, using ongoing trade and tariff disputes in a campaign to weaken Europe’s climate standards. “It’s very clear that the industry and the State Department are putting a lot of pressure on the EU to just give us a pass on this methane rule and commit to our dirty LNG,” said Lorne Stockman, research co-director for Oil Change International and co-author of a new report detailing climate impacts from five U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. “And we certainly hope the EU does not buckle to that pressure. But it’s extremely concerning because there’s a lot at stake.”
