Sudan Urges London Halt UAE Arms Sales Over RSF Atrocities

Sudan has urged the UK to end arms sales to the UAE, following reports that a Dubai-backed militia accused of genocide in Darfur has been equipped with British weapons. Sudan said in a report provided to the UN Security Council that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), an anti-government Sudanese militia, has received British small-arms targeting systems and engines for military vehicles. Reports have surfaced in recent days of RSF militiamen massacring some 2,000 civilians in El-Fasher, after taking control of the city in the Darfur region in southwest Sudan.

While Arab states condemned Israel’s war on Palestinians in Gaza as a genocide, they were simultaneously secretly expanding military cooperation with the US and Israel to help defend against a war with Iran, leaked documents revealed by the Washington Post on 11 October show. The documents, written between 2022 and 2025, show that officials from six Arab countries joined their Israeli and US counterparts for a series of meetings in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, and Qatar over the past three years. The documents described efforts by the US military to create the “Regional Security Construct,” which would include Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The documents refer to Kuwait and Oman as “potential partners” in the project. The participants met to prepare to protect Israel during a possible war with Iran by integrating their forces with US air defense systems.

Already, Kazan is fully ready to host the leaders of more than 33 countries participating in the BRICS summit in a year when Russia is the chairman of the association of leaders of the multipolar world. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) announced its readiness for a comprehensive war with Israel in response to a series of massive Israeli strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut overnight, Al-Akhbar reported on 28 September. The Israeli bombing campaign targeted the headquarters of Hezbollah as well as civilian residential buildings in Beirut's Dahiye neighborhoods, causing major destruction. The number of victims remains unclear but is expected to be large, as many were buried underneath the rubble of the destroyed buildings. Ali al-Mahdi, the leader of the Iraqi resistance, told Al-Akhbar in a statement that "the armed factions have the full capacity and readiness in terms of fighters, weapons, and drones to fight a long war on a regional level.
