Hamas And Arab Public Opinion

US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, trying to appear sensitive, claim that Hamas does not speak for the Palestinian people.  All along they have sought to portray the war on the Palestinian people as a war on Hamas.  More than 21,000 Palestinian have been murdered and the war ostensibly is still solely  targeted against Hamas, according to U.S. and Israeli officials. (Israel at least admits more than half the dead are not Hamas combatants, wildly exaggerating the number of Hamas fighters killed in order to camouflage genocide. Israel brags it has killed “only” over 10,000 Palestinian civilians).

Rage Over Gaza: Washington Will Pay For Its Support Of Israel

A famous quote by Franz Kafka says, “Every thing you love is very likely to be lost, but in the end, love will return in a different way.” The same principle, I believe, applies to any other powerful feeling, including resentment, hate, anger, even rage. American officials should know this well as they continue to support Israel with billions of dollars of military and economic aid and anything and everything that would allow Israel to continue with its genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza. The Arabs, the Muslims – in fact, the whole world – are watching, listening, reading, and are getting angrier by the day at the direct American role in facilitating the Gaza bloodbath.

Israel’s Gaza Withdrawal, A Prelude To Full-Out War

At the start of the new year, Israel’s occupation army began implementing the withdrawal of a large portion of its forces from the northern Gaza Strip. This withdrawal did not mean the end of the war on Gaza, and it certainly did not suggest calm on the Lebanese-Israeli front. On the contrary, reducing the pace of the war in the Gaza Strip increases the possibilities of an Israeli war on Lebanon. The battles taking place between the occupation army and Hezbollah along the southern Lebanese border since 8 October, in support of the resistance in Gaza, have been increasing in intensity day after day.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 89: Hamas And Hezbollah Pledge To Punish Israel Following Aruri Killing

Saleh Al-Aruri, 57, the deputy political leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), was killed in a drone airstrike in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday evening. Aruri is the most senior Hamas leader to be killed since the October 7 Palestinian cross-fence attack, which shocked Israel’s security and intelligence establishment. Aruri was one of the masterminds of The Al-Aqsa Flood operation. He talked about it openly in an interview with Al-Mayadeen channel in August. On Tuesday evening, he was killed in the movement’s office in Al-Dahiya, the southern Beirut suburb and the stronghold of Hezbollah movement.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 86: Israel Falls In ‘Serious Strategic Trap’

Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced on Sunday morning that 21,822 Palestinian martyrs were killed and 56,451 injured in the 86 days of Israel’s aggression in the Gaza Strip. Hundreds remain missing under the rubble and are believed to be dead. In the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling killed at least 50 martyrs in 12 massacres; according to the Ministry of Health, 64 of them were killed in Israeli attacks in central Gaza. Yousef Salama, the former Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, was killed in an Israeli raid on his home in Al-Maghzai refugee camp on Sunday morning.

Roger Waters: ‘2023 Has Been One Of The Most Dangerous Years Ever’

Roger Waters and Vijay Prashad reflect on the major developments of 2023 which they term one of the worst years in the history of humanity due to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. Waters spent several months of this year touring Europe and the Americas in his “This is Not a Drill” tour and was met with backlash from the right-wing and zionist lobbies in most countries.

Most Important Stories Of 2023: Gaza, Ukraine, China, BRICS, Dedollarization, Bank Crises, Inflation

These were the most important geopolitical and economic issues of 2023, including the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, US-China tensions, BRICS expansion, growing de-dollarization, inflation crisis, crypto fraud, bank crashes, European de-industrialization, and more.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 84: Gaza At ‘Catastrophic Threshold’ Of Famine

Twelve weeks into the Israeli rampage in the Gaza Strip, airstrikes continue to flatten the small Palestinian territory, killing dozens as fighting rages on between Israeli ground forces and Palestinian resistance fighters. Deadly Israeli airstrikes were reported since Thursday afternoon in Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, as well as in the Nuseirat, al-Bureij, and al-Maghazi refugee camps in central Gaza, and in Beit Hanoun and the Gaza City neighborhood of Sheikh Radwan in northern Gaza. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported at midday on Friday that at least 187 people had been killed and 312 wounded in the span of 24 hours, raising the total toll to at least 21,507 killed and at least 55,915 wounded in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

Israel Says It’s Anti-Semitic To Invoke Genocide Convention Over Gaza

South Africa has invoked the Genocide Convention, formally launching a case at the UN’s international court of justice accusing Israel of genocide for its mass atrocities in the Gaza Strip. Israel immediately responded by (deep sigh) accusing South Africa of “blood libel”. Blood libel, for those who don’t know, refers to the way medieval Europeans would falsely accuse Jews of murdering Christians in blood sacrifices in order to justify persecuting them. Which is to say, Israel has responded to South Africa’s accusations by accusing South Africa of anti-semitism.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 83: Israel Wages West Bank Invasion

As Israel continues their ruthless bombardment campaign against Gaza’s population, its residents are still being denied access to adequate supplies of food, medical supplies, fuel, and other life-saving necessities. Nobody in Gaza is safe. Israel has continued to target everybody, including children, civil defense workers, ambulances, medical facilities, and journalists. Following yet another Israeli attack on the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), this time on their compound in Khan Younis on Tuesday, the International Committee of the Red Cross in Israel and the occupied territories reiterated, “Humanitarian workers, vehicles and buildings must be protected during conflict.”

As US Veto Power Enables Genocide, There Are Options to Protect Gaza

As Israel continues its genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza — with the death toll now exceeding 20,000 (about 70 percent women and children) — the world seems powerless to stop the slaughter. The Biden administration, Israel’s chief enabler, defanged the resolution that was ultimately passed by the UN Security Council on December 22, rendering it merely symbolic. The final resolution calls for humanitarian assistance but not for a ceasefire which would allow aid to reach the people of Gaza. The U.S. saved diplomatic face by not employing its customary veto, but it did not vote for the resolution, electing instead to abstain.

Top Democrat-Linked PR Firm Tapped To Control Gaza War Narrative

On December 6, it was announced with much fanfare that the 10/7 Project, a new “centralized communications operation to promote continued US bipartisan support for Israel; push for accurate, complete coverage of the Israel-Hamas war,” and achieve a “stronger” media “focus” on the victims of October 7’s Al-Aqsa Flood would be launched, by a quintet of the largest Israeli lobby groups on U.S. soil. Who and what is funding the 10/7 Project isn’t at all clear. Publicity material spoke vaguely of an unnamed “coterie of philanthropists” and the organization’s interest in sourcing “more philanthropic support” moving forward. Future formal financial disclosures may make for fascinating reading, but its founders offer some clues.

The UN Just Declared It’s Highest-Level Warning Of A Famine In Gaza

In Gaza, 2.3 million people – half of whom are children – are facing an escalated and potentially fatal risk of hunger. The declaration comes from the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC), a food security framework used by the UN, food security and nutrition experts, and NGOs including Action Against Hunger. The latter says the UN declaration must be a turning point, as there have only been four declarations of famine in recent decades: South Sudan (2017); Somalia (2011); North Korea (1995), and Ethiopia (1984). In Gaza, more than 90% of the population is in crisis phase (3) or worse. In fact, more than 1.3 million people are in the emergency or catastrophe phase (4 and 5 respectively), while at least one in four households is facing acute catastrophic food insecurity conditions.

The Cost Of Bearing Witness

Writing and photographing in wartime are acts of resistance, acts of faith. They affirm the belief that one day – a day the writers, journalists and photographers may never see – the words and images will evoke empathy, understanding, outrage and provide wisdom. They chronicle not only the facts, although facts are important, but the texture, sacredness and grief of lives and communities lost. They tell the world what war is like, how those caught in its maw of death endure, how there are those who sacrifice for others and those who do not, what fear and hunger are like, what death is like.

‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’ Day 81: Gaza’s Health System Being ‘Decimated’

In his first public message since October 7, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar said that the Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades are waging a fierce and unprecedented battle against Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip in a letter published by Al-Jazeera Arabic on their website. Sinwar’s letter was addressed to members of the Hamas political bureau amid talks of Egyptian-Qatari mediation efforts to reach a ceasefire and a hostage exchange deal with Israel. Later on Monday, however, Al-Jazeera removed the letter from its website. Sinwar said that resistance fighters inflicted significant losses on  Israeli forces, targeting no less than 5,000 soldiers, killing a third of them.
