Trump’s Anti-Trans Policies Embolden Far Right

In 2025, over a thousand anti-transgender bills were introduced in 49 states across the country. Of those, over 100 have passed so far this year, continuing the trend of five consecutive record-breaking years of anti-trans legislation from 2020 to 2024. In recent years, I have watched these state-level attacks on transgender people spread across more than half the country, with many of these policies now being embraced at the federal level. In June, the Supreme Court ruled that Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care was constitutional, effectively opening the door for similar bans in 26 states.

Growing Global Solidarity To Demand Protection Of Palestinians Manifested On Day Of Action

On November 17, social movements in 13 countries held actions in solidarity with Colombia and its President, Gustavo Petro, who has faced retaliation by the United States for his statements and actions in support of Palestine. Petro has announced that he will introduce a Uniting for Peace resolution at the United Nations General Assembly to create a multinational protection force for Palestinians and impose sanctions and a weapons blockade in order to end the genocide and liberate Palestine from the illegal Israeli occupation. Since he announced his intention to introduce the resolution on September 2, the U.S. government has revoked Petro's visa, targeted him with sanctions, punitively increased tariffs on Colombia, and is even threatening military action against the country.

Palestinians In Gaza Reject UN Security Council Approval Of Trump’s Plan

The UN Security Council voted on Monday in favor of a U.S.-backed resolution establishing an “International Stabilization Force” (ISF) in Gaza under a “Board of Peace” headed by U.S. President Donald Trump. Under a two-year mandate, the stabilization force is reportedly planned to have an “executive” role in Gaza, not just as a peacekeeping force. The ISF is being established under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, which means it is being granted the authority to disarm Palestinian resistance factions, aligning with Israeli demands, and could be established unilaterally, without the approval of the Palestinians. The UN Security Council resolution voted 13-0 in favor of the resolution, with two permanent members, Russia and China, abstaining from the vote.

England And Wales Arrest Dozens Of Palestine Action Supporters

Police in England and Wales arrested more than 140 people on Tuesday, the first day of coordinated protests against the UK government’s proscription of the direct action group Palestine Action. No arrests were made at parallel events in Scotland and Northern Ireland. In each location, protesters staged sit-downs, holding signs that read, “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine.” The group, Defend Our Juries (DOJ), which organised the protests, said an estimated 142 people were arrested on Tuesday, with more actions scheduled to take place this week ahead of the planned judicial review into the ban on Palestine Action on 24 November.

Sheinbaum Rebuffs Trump After He Threatens To Bomb Mexico, Colombia

US President Donald Trump lashed out Monday at Mexico and Colombia, threatening to bomb their territories as part of the US “fight” against drug trafficking. “Would I launch attacks against Mexico to stop drug trafficking? I have no problem with that,” he said during a press conference from the Oval Office of the White House. “Whatever it takes to stop drug trafficking,” he added in reference to the illegal US missile strikes, conducted under the auspices of an alleged “war on drugs,” that have killed 83 civilians from various countries in the region. During his statements, the US ruler reiterated his alleged willingness to conduct diplomatic talks with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Tribes File Federal Suit Over Prosecution Of Hunting, Fishing

The Chickasaw Nation, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and Cherokee Nation have filed a federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma, alleging that Gov. Kevin Stitt and state officials are unlawfully prosecuting tribal citizens for hunting and fishing on tribal land. The suit, filed Monday, names Stitt; his newly appointed special prosecutor, Russ Cochran; and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) as defendants. The tribes argue that the governor does not have the authority to appoint a special prosecutor for wildlife offenses on tribal land and that his directives to ODWC violate tribal sovereignty and jurisdiction affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2020 McGirt decision.

40,000 University Of California Hospital Workers In Two-Day Strike

San Diego — As 40,000 AFSCME Local 3299 workers throughout the ten-campus University of California system launched a two-day strike on Nov. 17, two Communist Party members—Alvin, an AFSCME-represented employee at University of California at San Diego (UCSD), and another worker, an AFSCME retiree from UC San Francisco—shared their thoughts before they prepared to picket. Pay, or lack of it, is the big issue. But so is disparate treatment on a class basis.  While the university system fails to settle contracts addressing the cost of living and affordability crises facing its most economically vulnerable patient care workers, it’s also handed out six-figure salaries and housing subsidies to multiple high administrators.

Ex-UN Official Decries Resolution Backing Gaza Force As ‘Colonial Outrage’

A former senior UN human rights official has denounced the Security Council’s adoption of a resolution backing a US plan for foreign forces and governance in Gaza, calling it a “colonial outrage”. Craig Mokhiber, former director of the New York office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), described the vote as a “day of shame” for the UN and accused governments worldwide of being “on their knees before the US empire and its violent Israeli client”. He criticised the "horrific" resolution as a violation of international law. “This proposal has been rejected by Palestinian civil society and factions, as well as by defenders of human rights and international law everywhere,” Mokhiber said on X.

Venezuela’s National Assembly hosted, this Thursday, November 13 and Friday, November 14, the first Meeting of Jurists in Defense of International Law. The initiative, which included more than one hundred jurists from 35 countries, takes place amid international questions about the jurisprudence of pressure exerted by Washington against Nicolás Maduro’s government – both through bombings of vessels and the movement of aircraft carriers near the Venezuelan coast. Maduro appeared on the second day of the event. The head of state was given a list with 10 proposals drafted by jurists as attempts to halt Washington’s advances.

Muskegon, MI – On November 13, plumbers and apprentices working for Moore Mechanical Grand Rapids began picketing outside the Shaw Walker Project in Muskegon, Michigan. They were joined by other union members of UA local 174 as well as a handful of community members. UA local 174 organizer Johnny Ortiz explained the situation, “After talking with the workers and after getting a majority of those workers that want a contract there at Moore Mechanical. We went in there and said “Hey! we have a majority!”

Ecuador: Clear Response From The People To The Fascist Noboa

The results of the popular consultation and referendum in Ecuador, held this Sunday, gave a clear advantage to the “No” option on the four key questions promoted by the government of US backed President Daniel Noboa, in a day characterized by high citizen participation. The initiatives promoted by President Noboa, supposedly focused on “protecting national sovereignty”. According to data from the National Electoral Council (CNE), with more than 90% of the votes counted, the “No” vote exceeds 52% of the votes. This rejection is concentrated on the proposals to allow the installation of foreign military bases, eliminate state funding for political parties, reduce the number of assembly members, and convene a Constituent Assembly.

China Tells G7 To Abandon Cold War Mentality

China asked the Group of Seven (G7) countries to abandon their Cold War mentality and ideological bias on Thursday, November 13, after they accused China of causing instability in the East Asian region. The G7 should “take a clear grasp of the global trend, abandon the Cold War mentality and ideological bias and stop manipulating issues related to China,” said Lin Jian, spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while answering a question related to the allegations made by the G7. On Wednesday, a joint statement issued after the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Niagara in Canada expressed support for “Taiwan’s meaningful participation in appropriate international organizations” and accused China of causing political and economic instabilities.

The US military has extrajudicially killed 80 people in 20 strikes that have destroyed 21 boats, in aerial strikes off the coast of Venezuela. With outrage in response to these murders and significant U.S. military buildup near Venezuela, an urgent and coordinated week of action for Venezuela from November 15-23 started yesterday, with over 50 actions across the US and a growing international response. The demonstrations, organized by over 35 organizations forming a rapid response network, are demanding no war on Venezuela, the withdrawal of the U.S. military from the Caribbean, and the establishment of a "Zone of Peace" across the hemisphere.
